The expected incisional hernia rate is between 11-20% after laparotomy. Using mesh repair the results of the hernioplasty have recently improved. However the complication of mesh implants--especially in intraperitoneal position--can be life threatening. Additionally the appropriate mesh is expensive. We tried to create a mesh, which can be used intraperitoneally and generates adhesion in the abdominal wall, but keeps the intraabdominal organs adhesion free. Our experiments were divided into four groups. In the first we used different materials to cover the intraperitoneal side of polypropylene mesh. In the second phase three different pore-sized meshes were compared. In the third part the biological behavior of three different material-reduced meshes were investigated. Based on our previous results in the last session we used only silicone membrane protected material-reduced polypropylene meshes to cover the abdominal defects. Our experiments have shown that intraperitoneal implant with silicone-covered Vypro (Ethicon)/Premilene (B. Braun Medical) mesh significantly decreases the formations of adhesion.

Introduction And Hypothesis: Autologous fascia lata has been increasingly utilised in pelvic floor reconstructive surgeries such as sacrocolpopexy and sacrohysteropexy. This case highlights sacrohysteropexy with autologous fascia lata as a promising option for women with advanced uterovaginal prolapse who wish to preserve their uterus and avoid synthetic mesh.
Methods: We report the case of a 65-year-old woman with stage 3 pelvic organ prolapse following one forceps and one spontaneous vaginal delivery.

The prevalence of POP in women ranges from 30-40%, with 10-20% requiring surgical intervention. Annually, over 225,000 surgical procedures for POP are performed in the United States. The severity of prolapse is assessed using the four-stage POP-Q system, which facilitates clinical research by providing a standardized measure of defect severity.

Introduction: In inguinal hernia repair, mesh weight and pore size are used to describe the mesh characteristics. One meta-analysis of laparo-endoscopic inguinal hernia repairs identified 12 prospective randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with 2,909 patients who had all been treated with lightweight (≤ 50 g/m²) or heavyweight (> 70 g/m²) meshes. None of the 12 RCTs gave details of the pore size.

Objective: To compare the long-term outcomes of porcine small intestinal submucosa (SIS) mesh and polypropylene (PP) mesh after an laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) inguinal hernia repair.
Background: Mesh-based surgical techniques for inguinal hernia repair are recommended in the guidelines due to the lower rate of recurrence. Biologic meshes (BMs) may have advantages in terms of chronic pain due to the different postoperative remodeling, without the disadvantages of a permanent implant.

Postoperative adhesion (PA) caused by the combination of proteins, inflammatory response and bacterial infection poses substantial challenges for polypropylene meshes (PPMs) based hernioplasty. Herein, inspired by the peritoneum, a Janus PPMs with side-specific functions was developed via a surface-initiated photoiniferter-mediated polymerization technology. A physical barrier composed of zwitterionic polymer brushes (PS) was firstly constructed on the one side of the PPMs, while the polymethacrylic acid (PMAA) brushes acting as the linker for bioactive nanoparticles (HAP) were precisely situated on the opposite surface subsequently.
