Published: March 2003

Objective: To review the current status of the determination of the bacterial endotoxin in traditional chinese medicine injections with the limulus lysate test, and to evaluate the feasibility of this test for the determination of the bacterial endotoxin in these injections.

Method: The data related to the topic was collected, analyzed and summarized.

Result: The limulus lysate test was not available for most of traditional chinese medicine injections due to the interference. And the same injection may uield different test results because of different factories, batch numbers, different techniques and preparational conditions.

Conclusion: There is still a long way to go to apply the limulus lysate test to the determination of the bacterial endotoxin in traditional chinese medicine injections.

Exploring the dual roles of sec-dependent effectors from Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus in immunity of citrus plants.

The three SDEs of CLas were expressed in citrus leaves by AuNPs-PEI mediated transient expression system, and promoted the proliferation of CLas and inhibited citrus immunity. Huanglongbing (HLB) is the most severe bacterial disease of citrus caused by Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas). CLas suppress host immune responses and promote infection by sec-dependent effectors (SDEs), thus insight into HLB pathogenesis is urgently needed to develop effective management strategies.

The outer membrane is the defining structure of Gram-negative bacteria. We previously demonstrated that it is a major load-bearing component of the cell envelope and is therefore critical to the mechanical robustness of the bacterial cell. Here, to determine the key molecules and moieties within the outer membrane that underlie its contribution to cell envelope mechanics, we measured cell-envelope stiffness across several sets of mutants with altered outer-membrane sugar content, protein content, and electric charge.

Plants possess remarkably durable resistance against non-adapted pathogens in nature. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying this resistance remain poorly understood, and it is unclear how the resistance is maintained without coevolution between hosts and the non-adapted pathogens. In this study, we used Phytophthora sojae (Ps), a non-adapted pathogen of N.

BACKGROUND Periodontal disease and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are closely related, and periodontal therapy can potentially improve RA activity. However, it is not clear in which RA patient populations are more effective periodontal therapy for RA treatment. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of treatment for periodontal disease in 30 patients with rheumatoid arthritis and the titers of antibodies to Porphyromonas gingivalis (P.

Department of Epidemiology and Health Statistics, School of Public Health, Fujian Medical University, Fuzhou, China.

Background: The prognostic value of Chlamydia pneumoniae (Cpn) infection in postoperative lung cancer patients remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the association between Cpn infection and survival in lung cancer patients.

Methods: This study included 309 newly diagnosed primary lung cancer patients from three hospitals in Fuzhou, China.
