Bezoars are concretions made up of a variety of partially digested materials seen in several portions of the gastrointestinal tract; they may result in gastrointestinal obstruction. Bezoar types described in the scientific literature include bezoars resulting from drugs. Their development is usually associated with some predisposing risk factor. The case of a patient is described, who was admitted to the hospitaĺs Emergency Department because of a clinical event suggesting a gastrointestinal bleeding episode. After admission, endoscopy demonstrated the presence of a bezoar whose components included a great number of Adalat Oros tablets. A review of the drugs that induced bezoar formation is made, and associated risk factors, formation mechanisms, bezoar appearance, and treatments used are all described.

Poisoning management includes gastrointestinal decontamination strategies to decrease the burden of poison entering the body and change the expected severe toxicity expected to a less toxic, more favourable outcome. Common modalities are orogastric lavage, oral-activated charcoal and whole-bowel irrigation. Endoscopic retrieval and laparotomy are rare options reserved for severe ingestions and body packers.

Introduction: Quetiapine is available in both immediate-release (IR) and extended-release (XR) formulations. Quetiapine XR overdose is known to cause delayed increase in serum quetiapine concentrations. However, it is not certain whether quetiapine IR overdose would similarly cause a delayed increase in serum quetiapine concentrations.

Introduction: Intentional multiple drugs overdose is an often-encountered method of self-harm in adolescence. Treatments include supportive therapy, antidotes (when available) and decontamination techniques with the aim of reducing drugs absorption by the gastrointestinal system to minimize toxicity. Nevertheless, the decontamination techniques currently used, such as gastric lavage (GL), activated charcoal or whole-bowel irrigation, have a questionable effectiveness.

Background: Bezoars are indigestible lumps which are usually found in stomach. Types of bezoar include phytobezoar, trichobezoar, lithobezoar, pharmacobezoar, plasticobezoar, lactobezoar and metal bezoar. Trichobezoars mostly affect females in 20s and 30s with a rarity in paediatrics.
