A new and convenient procedure for synthesis of homoallylic alcohols in generally good to excellent yields has been developed. The bismuth-mediated Barbier-type allylation of aldehydes (aromatic, aliphatic, alicyclic and heterocyclic) with allyl bromide has been carried out smoothly in water in the presence of fluoride ions.

Background: Postpartum is a critical period to interrupt weight gain across the lifespan, decrease weight-related risk in future pregnancies, promote healthy behaviors that are often adopted during pregnancy, and improve long-term health. Because the postpartum period is marked by unique challenges to a person's ability to prioritize healthy behaviors, a multi-level/domain approach to intervention beyond the individual-level factors of diet and activity is needed.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to understand postpartum people's perceptions about the relationship between their social networks and support, and their health behaviors and weight.

Background: Most veterinary literature examining medication compliance has described the phenomenon in dogs. The evidence available regarding factors affecting cat owner medication compliance is limited.
Objectives: Identify and describe factors associated with cat owners' noncompliance with veterinary recommendations for pet medications, as well as client-reported barriers and aids to administering medications prescribed by primary care veterinarians.

While the importance of the upper and lower limbs in locomotion is well understood, the kinematics of the trunk during walking remains largely unexplored. Two decades ago, a casual observation was reported indicating spine lengthening in a small sample of mostly children during walking, but this observation was never replicated. Objectives: This study aims to verify the preliminary observation that spine lengthening occurs during walking and to explore changes in spine kinematics across three different age groups.

: This study explores the potential of using elevated levels of blood double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) as a diagnostic tool for severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) infection. : Blood samples from SFTS patients were collected, dsRNA was purified, and total dsRNA expression was quantitatively analyzed using a spiropyran-based method. Comparative analysis was performed using blood samples from healthy individuals and scrub typhus patients with similar symptoms.

As robots become increasingly integrated into human society, the importance of human-machine interfaces continues to grow. This study proposes a faster and more accurate control system for myoelectric prostheses by considering the Electromechanical Delay (EMD), a key characteristic of Electromyography (EMG) signals. Previous studies have focused on systems designed for wrist movements without attempting implementation.
