The acid-catalyzed condensation of aldehydes and acetamide has been shown to provide a pool of diverse equilibrating species. For the first time, the synthesis of substituted 1-N-acylamino-1,3-butadienes has been accomplished directly in moderate yields upon telomerization of two molecules of aldehyde with one molecule of carboxamide. Detailed spectroscopic and computational investigations establish the favourable formation of all-trans aminodienes under the reaction conditions. Employment thereof as diene building blocks in Diels-Alder reactions allows for the synthesis of carbocyclic molecules with high stereocontrol.

Developing donor-acceptor [n]cycloparaphenylenes (D-A [n]CPPs) with multiple emissions from different emissive states remains challenging yet crucial for achieving white-light emission in single-molecule. Here, we report our explorations into acceptor engineering of quinone-based D-A [10]CPPs (Nq/Aq/Tq[10]CPPs) via a post-lateral annulation using Diels-Alder reactions of oxTh[10]CPP. X-ray analysis reveals that Nq[10]CPP displays a side by side packing via naphthoquione stacking while Aq[10]CPP adopts an intercalated conformation through anthraquinone interaction.

Compositions of ethylene glycol dicyclopentenyl ether methacrylate (EGDEMA), a vegetable oil based alkyl methacrylate (C13MA), and furfuryl methacrylate (FMA) were terpolymerized for dual-crosslinked networks with tailored mechanical and thermal properties. Specifically, initiators for continuous activator regeneration (ICAR) atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) afforded materials with tailored glass transition temperature ( ) and incorporation of furan and norbornene functionalities within a single chain. The terpolymer with high furan and norbornene functionality (Ter2: = 0.

Xanthine nucleosides play a significant role in the expansion of the four-letter genetic code. Herein, 7-functionalized 8-aza-7-deazaxanthine ribo- and 2'-deoxyribonucleosides are described. 2-Amino-6-alkoxy nucleosides were converted to halogenated 8-aza-7-deazaxanthine nucleosides by deamination followed by hydroxy/alkoxy substitution.

In this study, we extended a previously developed one-pot double derivatization reaction to establish the first routine isotope-coded multiplex derivatization for vitamin D and its metabolites for application in clinical environments, using commercial reagents, without the need for specialized reagents and advanced synthesis requirements. The original derivatization process consisted of using both a Cookson-type reagent and derivatization of hydroxyl groups. Initially, the analytes are derivatized by a Diels-Alder reaction using 4-phenyl-1,2,4-triazoline-3,5-dione (PTAD), followed by acetylation using acetic anhydride, catalyzed by 4-dimethylaminopyridine at room temperature.
