In South Africa, the integration of research into clinical practice within the fields of speech therapy and audiology remains a pivotal, yet underexplored challenge. This opinion piece discusses the critical need for a structured research agenda to drive meaningful changes in clinical practice in South Africa. With healthcare realities such as limited resources, linguistic and cultural diversity, and access to services, it is essential that practitioners, policymakers and researchers collaboratively define and prioritise research topics that address the unique needs of South African patients.

COVID-19 has brought health protection to the top of the political agenda in many countries, at the cost of reduced freedoms, social relationships, and economic opportunities. This context may have led individuals to pay more attention to their health and to attach greater importance to it in life satisfaction. This paper examines the possibility of an increase in the correlation between life and health satisfaction after the onset of the pandemic using repeated cross-sectional data in France between 2016 and 2021 and an original jittering strategy to smooth the ordinal variables of life and health satisfaction in regression models of subjective well-being.

The Australian Podiatry Board's proposal to change the title 'podiatric surgeon' to 'surgical podiatrist' lacks evidence and is contrary to broader healthcare reform agendas. The current title 'podiatric surgeon' reflects scope of practice. Instead of a title change, regulators should focus on removing barriers to effective collaborative care.

In 1948, the United Nations General Assembly in Paris declared that a standard of health was a universal human right.1 There is no reason to suggest that this affirmation should not include oral health as well. Oral health is a human right! Oral diseases are a public health problem that impair quality of life and generate increased costs and demands.
