Introduction: One of the most difficult factors in curing pancreatic carcinoma is hepatic metastases. Many patients who undergo curative resection have hepatic recurrence, and unresected patients with hepatic metastases have terribly poor prognosis.
Aim: In this study, we evaluated the efficacy of hepatic arterial infusion therapy for pancreatic carcinoma.
Patients And Method: The subjects were 42 patients who underwent curative surgery, and 75 who were treated without resection over the past 10 years. A catheter was inserted from the femoral artery to the proper hepatic artery using the interventional technique. The main drug of this therapy was 5-fluorouracil.
Result: The prophylactic therapy for curative resected cases was effective for pathologically mild venous permeation cases but not effective for severe venous permeation cases. Prophylactic hepatic arterial infusion therapy to prevent hepatic metastasis was not effective for unresected cases; however, for the patients with hepatic metastases this therapy was one of the factors for prolonging survival time.

Background: Aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase (AADC) deficiency is a rare life-threatening inborn error of neurotransmitter biosynthesis. It is characterized by deficient biosynthesis of neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin, leading to catecholamines deficiency and sympathetic deprivation, while the parasympathetic system remains functional. Since 2012, gene therapy has led to clinical improvements in symptoms and motor function with a severe phenotype.

Paradoxical embolism occurs when a clot originates in the venous system and traverses through a pulmonary or intracardiac shunt into the systemic circulation, with a mortality rate of around 18%. The risk factors for arterial embolism and venous thrombosis are similar, but different disease entities can lead to a hypercoagulable state of the blood, including antithrombin III (AT III) deficiency. We report the case of a 43-year-old man with a massive central pulmonary embolism with a rider embolus and concomitant aortic arch embolism with involvement of the brachiocephalic trunk, bilateral subclavian and axillary arteries, and the right vertebral artery, followed by a secondary ischaemic stroke.

Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP) is a rare pulmonary pathology characterized by the accumulation of surfactant within type II alveolar epithelial cells. Whole lung lavage is the standard treatment for pulmonary alveolar proteinosis involving a large volume of fluid is infused into one lung and subsequently retrieved while the other lung is remains ventilated. Fast-tracking a patient undergoing whole lung lavage requires vigilant monitoring of arterial blood gases, fluid status, and respiratory mechanics.

Introduction: This study aims to critically assess the appropriateness and limitations of two prominent large language models (LLMs), enhanced representation through knowledge integration (ERNIE Bot) and chat generative pre-trained transformer (ChatGPT), in answering questions about liver cancer interventional radiology. Through a comparative analysis, the performance of these models will be evaluated based on their responses to questions about transarterial chemoembolization and hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy in both English and Chinese contexts.
Methods: A total of 38 questions were developed to cover a range of topics related to transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC), including foundational knowledge, patient education, and treatment and care.

Background: Microcirculation is the essential link between macrocirculation and cellular metabolism.
Objectives: To test our hypotheses that microcirculation variables will show a heterogeneous flow pattern during experimental endotoxaemia, and that fluid therapy and noradrenaline (NA) infusion will normalise altered microcirculation variables.
Study Design: In vivo experiments.
