We report the design, synthesis, and binding affinities of a family of thioether analogues of the alpha(v)beta(3)-specific compound c[(Mpa)RGDD(tBuG)C]-NH(2). The synthesis of the thioether building blocks is scalable and produced the desired products in good yields. The linear peptides were synthesized on solid supports, followed by cyclization in solution. Our analogues demonstrate interesting binding data to the isolated receptors. In particular, the peptide c[NH-Arg-Gly-Asp-Asp-(tBuG)-Cys(S-CH(2)-CO)]NH(2) (1) exhibits differences in binding when compared to the parent compound and demonstrates potent affinity to the alpha(v)beta(3) and alpha(5)beta(1) receptors while having reduced binding to the alpha(IIb)beta(3) receptor. This result combined with the replacement of the disulfide with a thioether makes this compound interesting for further development.

A novel porphyrin based covalent organic frameworks (Por-BABN-COF) has been successfully constructed via self-polycondensation of a newly developed AB porphyrin building block possessing two amino groups and two neopentyl acetal at the meso-position. Por-BABN-COF was employed as a heterogeneous photocatalyst for the selective oxidation of sulfides and CO cycloaddition due to its superior light absorption capacity, strong crystallinity and high stability. The high conversion, good selectivity and excellent reusability indicate Por-BABN-COF is a promising photocatalyst for both reactions.

Donor-acceptor (D-A) conjugated polymers have been widely reported as promising photocatalysts for organic conversion. However, achieving excellent photocatalytic performance still relies on the rational design of molecular structures and the careful selection of appropriate building blocks. In this study, we designed two D-A type conjugated porous polymers (CPPs) using 2,7,12-tribromo-5,5,10,10,15,15-hexamethyl-10,15-dihydro-5H-diindeno[1,2-a:1',2'-c]fluorene (Tx) as the donor unit and two 1,3,5-triazine-based derivatives, namely 2,4,6-tri(thiophen-2-yl)-1,3,5-triazine (TTT) and 2,4,6-triphenyl-1,3,5-triazine (TPT), as the acceptor units.

Precise control of selective alkene functionalization is a continuing challenge in the chemical community. In this study, we develop a substitution-controlled regiodivergent thioetherification of di- or trisubstituted alkenes using 10 mol % tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane [B(CF)] as a catalyst and N-thiosuccinimide as a sulfenylating reagent. This metal-free borane catalyzed C-S bond forming method is utilized for a Csp-H sulfenylation reaction to synthesize an array of diphenylvinylsulfide derivatives with good to excellent yields (25 examples, up to 91 % yield).

Bimetallic sulfides based hybrid anodes are constructed for high-performance lithium ion batteries.

Transition metal sulfides (TMSs) are considered as one of the most promising anode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) in virtue of their high theoretical specific capacity, low cost and environmental friendliness. However, the intrinsic poor electron/ion transport, large volume change and the shuttle effect of polysulfides hinder their achievement of superb rate capability and cycle performance. Compared with the monometallic sulfides, bimetallic sulfides have superior electron transport capability and higher electrochemical activity.

Hybrid lead halides show significant potential in photocatalysis due to their excellent photophysical properties, but the atomically precise modification of their organic component to achieve synergistic interactions with the lead halide units remains a great challenge. Herein, for the first time, we have employed the crystal engineering strategy to construct a class of single-atom-substituted hybrid lead halides with electron donor-acceptor (D-A) effect. The lead halide frameworks consist of 1D linear [PbCl] chains as inorganic building units and benzoxadiazole/benzothiadiazole/ benzoselenadiazole-funtionalized dicarboxylates as linkers.
