The plant hormone ethylene has been shown to play an important role in root hair development in Arabidopsis. With the aid of proteomic analysis, we identified three distinct glutathione S-transferase (GST) isoforms, AtGSTF2, AtGSTF8, and AtGSTU19, expressed early in root epidermal establishment in Arabidopsis seedlings. The AtGSTF2 protein was specifically up-regulated by ethylene. A subsequent RNA expression study revealed that the AtGSTF2 gene was highly sensitive to ethylene, whereas the transcripts for AtGSTF8 and AtGSTU19 were constitutively present in new root tissue of 4-day-old seedlings. The steady-state level of AtGSTF2 mRNA was greatly reduced in the roots of ethylene-insensitive mutants, while mutation at the CTR1 locus, which confers an ectopic root hair phenotype, resulted in a markedly elevated level of AtGSTF2 transcript in young root tissue. Although the physiological function of ethylene-induced AtGSTF2 is not yet clear, there are several possibilities for its role during early root development.

Plant root and soil-associated microbiomes are influenced by niches, including bulk and rhizosphere soil. In this work, we collected bulk and rhizosphere soil samples at four potato developmental stages (leaf growth, flowering, tuber elongation and harvest) to identify whether rhizosphere microbiota are structured in a growth stage-dependent manner. The bacterial and fungal microbiota showed significant temporal differences in the rhizosphere and bulk soil.

Background: Evaluating the correlation between degenerative meniscus tears and medial meniscus extrusion is necessary to determine the appropriate treatment plan for early-stage knee osteoarthritis. This study evaluated the relationship between degenerative meniscal tears and medial meniscus extrusion in early-stage knee osteoarthritis by using ultrasonography.
Methods: A total of 132 knees from 123 patients with early-stage knee osteoarthritis were evaluated retrospectively.

Objective: We present our experience with endovascular Bentall procedure (Endo-Bentall) using a modular valve conduit (Endo-Bentall) in high-risk patients with aortic root pathologies.
Methods: The physician constructed Endo-Bentall device is composed of a self-expanding transcatheter aortic valve (TAVR), aortic endovascular stent graft (TEVAR), and two wire-reinforced fenestrations for coronary artery stenting. The TAVR valve is sutured into an appropriately sized TEVAR graft.

Objective: Over 30% of patients presenting with acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) are considered high - risk or inoperable. This study aims to investigate the early and mid-term outcomes of complex endovascular aortic repair of aortic root, ascending aorta, and aortic arch among patients with ATAAD.
Methods: From January 2018 to January 2023, 29 patients who were considered high risk for open operation underwent endovascular aortic repair.
