Background: In boron neutron capture therapy, blood boron concentration is the key factor to calculate radiation dose, however, blood sampling is difficult during neutron irradiation.
Materials And Methods: The prediction of blood boron concentrations for BNCT treatment planning has been prospectively investigated using patient data obtained at first craniotomy after the infusion of a low dose of sodium undecahydroclosododecaborate.
Results: The boron biodistribution data showed a biexponential pharmacokinetic profile. If the final boron concentration at 6 or 9 hours after the end of the infusion is within the 95% confidence interval of the prediction, direct prediction from biexponential fit will reduce the error of blood boron concentrations during irradiation to around 6%.
Conclusion: Actual boron concentrations during BNCT were reasonably and accurately predictable from the test data.

Background: Foodborne pathogenic bacteria lead to a significant increase in illnesses and fatalities annually. In the early stage of a pathogenic bacterial infection, the concentration of bacteria in food is lower than the detection limit of most technology which enhances the difficulty in diagnosis. It is a serious challenge for researchers to develop a rapid, sensitive, accurate, and stable pathogenic bacterial determination method without costly equipment and highly skilled operators.

A novel composite containing CoS and nitrogen-doped amorphous porous carbon (NAPC), denoted as CoS@NAPC, was successfully synthesized from a mixture of cobalt-based ZIF-12 and sulfur through one-pot pyrolysis. The morphology and microstructure of the composites are evaluated with appropriate spectroscopic techniques. CoS@NAPC was used to modify the glassy carbon electrode (GCE) to detect Nilotinib.

Recently, the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) of Brazil recalled several lots of sartan drugs due to the presence of N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA). NDMA is a highly potent carcinogenic contaminant that harms human health; therefore, the presence of NDMA in sartan drugs must be checked through appropriate analytical methods. This work successfully developed a new analytical method for determining NDMA without chemical pretreatment of losartan and olmesartan drug samples.

A niobium (Nb) mesh electrode was coated with boron-doped diamond (BDD) using chemical vapor deposition in a custom-built hot-filament reactor. The BDD-functionalized mesh was tested in a zero-gap electrolysis configuration and evaluated for the anodic formation of HO by selective oxidation of water, including the analysis of the effects on Faradaic efficiency towards HO (FEH2O2) induced by pulsed electrolysis. A low electrolyte flow rate (V⋅) was found to result in a relatively high concentration of HO in single-pass electrolysis experiments.

The nonthermal destruction of aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) stockpiles, one of the major culprits responsible for water and soil contamination by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), is extremely challenging because of the coexistence of mixed recalcitrant PFAS and complicated organic matrices at extremely high concentrations. To date, the complete defluorination of undiluted AFFF at ambient conditions has not been demonstrated. This study reports a novel piezoelectric ball milling approach for treating AFFF with a total organic fluorine concentration of 9080 mg/L and total organic carbon of 234 g/L.
