Aims: To evaluate the effect of T cell co-culture on mitomycin C treated and untreated Tenon's capsule fibroblasts.
Methods: IL-2 dependent allogeneic T cells were incubated over a monolayer of mitomycin C treated or control fibroblasts. Fibroblast numbers were evaluated by direct counts using phase contrast microscopy. To determine whether T cell mediated lysis was a consequence of MHC mismatch, co-culture experiments were repeated with autologous T cells. The effect of Fas receptor blockade was established by co-incubation with a Fas blocking (M3) antibody.
Results: T cell co-culture resulted in a dramatic reduction in fibroblast survival compared to mitomycin C treatment alone (p = 0.032). T cell killing required fibroblast/lymphocyte cell to cell contact and was observed in both allogeneic and autologous co-culture experiments. Fas blocking antibodies did not significantly inhibit T cell killing (p = 0.39).
Conclusion: T cells augment mitomycin C treated fibroblast death in vitro. Similar mechanisms may contribute to the cytotoxic effect of mitomycin C in vivo and account for the largely hypocellular drainage blebs that are observed clinically.

Intravesical instillation of chemotherapy has been performed to reduce the risk of intravesical recurrence of bladder cancer. However, its antitumor effect is not necessarily sufficient, which may be partially due to inadequate delivery of intravesically administered chemotherapeutic agents to bladder tumors. Ultrasound irradiation to target tissues in the presence of microbubbles is a technique to transiently enhance cell membrane permeability and achieve efficient drug delivery to the desired sites without damage to non-target areas; this technique has been used in chemotherapy, immunotherapy, gene therapy, and radiotherapy for the treatment of various cancers.

Purpose: To report the long-term surgical outcomes of acquired ankyloblepharon correction using mucous membrane graft.
Methods: Five eyes of 4 patients (median age, 19 years) with acquired ankyloblepharon were managed using eyelid splitting and mucous membrane graft anchored to the recti muscles on the bulbar surface in the respective quadrant and onto the bare tarsal surface. Outcome measures include a change in the palpebral fissure width, ability to fit scleral contact lenses, visual acuity, and cosmesis.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to report the management of chemoimmunotherapy-resistant ocular surface squamous neoplasia (OSSN) with iodine-125 (I-125) brachytherapy.
Methods: A 36-year-old man presented to the clinic with biopsy-proven OSSN that covered ∼70% of the corneal surface and extended to the 6 o'clock position of the inferior limbus of the OS. The visual acuity was 20/20 in the OD and 20/40 in the affected OS.
