[Risk of very preterm delivery: can we refrain from in utero transfer and manage these patients in level I and II maternity wards?].

J Gynecol Obstet Biol Reprod (Paris)

Service de Gynécologie-Obstétrique, Hôpital Franco-Britannique, 92200 Levallois-Perret.

Published: February 2004

The frequency of premature delivery is estimated at 0.5% of births (approximately 2000 per year in France). The rate of in utero transfers before 28 weeks, although difficult to evaluate, is well above this percentage, raising the risk of overloading level III maternity wards. Who should or should not be transferred? What tests are most pertinent? What are the criteria for diagnosing premature labor? Which treatment should be offered? How should the decision to transfer be established? What information should be furnished to the parents? How should an unexpected delivery be managed? How should the transfer network be optimally organized?

This study included preterm neonates <30 weeks' gestation who received NIV support for respiratory distress syndrome (RDS). Demographic and clinical characteristics were compared between infants with and without NIV failure within the first 72 hours after birth.

Department of Pediatrics, Seoul National University Children's Hospital, Seoul National University College of Medicine, Seoul, Republic of Korea.

Background: Early onset hypocalcemia, occurring within 3 days of birth, is prevalent among preterm infants. A central line is required to deliver calcium (Ca). The prediction of hypocalcemia is therefore clinically important when the requirement for initial intravascular calcium administration is anticipated.

Objective: To explore the risk factors for the reactivate of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) after intravitreal injection of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and to construct a nomogram model to predict the risk of ROP reactivate.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 185 ROP children who underwent anti-VEGF treatment at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2017 to October 2023. They were randomly divided into a training set (129 cases) and a validation set (56 cases) at a ratio of 7:3.
