Article Synopsis
  • Gallium oxide is a versatile wide-bandgap semiconductor used in applications like gas sensors and UV detectors.
  • The paper discusses a method for creating tin-doped gallium oxide thin films using aerosol assisted chemical vapor deposition with specific chemicals.
  • Results showed that doping with tin lowers the film's visible light transmittance but maintains its wide bandgap of 4.8 eV, and significantly reduces the resistivity of the films.

The effect of 60Co gamma irradiation on gallium oxide and titanium oxide (Ga2O3-TiO2) nanocomposites are investigated in the present study. The Ga2O3-TiO2 nanocomposite was synthesized by hydrothermal method at 120°C. The precursors for the synthesis consist of gallium nitrate anhydrous and titanium trichloride along with sodium hydroxide to achieve the pH of 9.

Although the adduct of aluminum trichloride with thionyl chloride has been reported, no thionyl chloride adduct of a main group element Lewis acid or organometallic compound has been structurally characterized. In this communication we present the synthesis and reactivity of the structurally ascertained adduct of thionyl chloride with tris(pentafluoroethyl)gallane as a representative of a main group element Lewis acid. Gallium and indium compounds with electron withdrawing groups, e.

The design of various cycloaddition/annulation processes is one of the most intriguing challenges in the development of donor-acceptor (D-A) cyclopropane chemistry. In this work, a new class of formal high-order [6+n]-cycloaddition and annulation processes of D-A cyclopropanes with cycloheptatriene systems has been designed and reported, to fill a significant gap in the chemistry of D-A cyclopropanes. The reactivity of methylated cycloheptatrienes from Me1 to Me5 as well as unsubstituted cycloheptatriene was studied in detail under GaCl activation conditions, which makes it possible to efficiently generate gallium 1,2-zwitterionic complexes or 1,3-zwitterionic intermediates starting from D-A cyclopropanes, while other Lewis acids are ineffective and non-selective.

Oxidative recycling of metals is crucial for a circular economy, encompassing the preservation of natural resources, the reduction of energy consumption, and the mitigation of environmental impacts and greenhouse gas emissions associated with traditional mining and processing. Low-melting gallium trichloride appears to be a promising oxidative solvent for rare-earth metals, transuranium elements, platinum, pnictogens, and chalcogens. Typically, oxidative dissolution with GaCl occurs at relatively low temperatures over a few days, assuming the presence of tetrahedral Ga-Cl entities.
