In many interferometers, two fringe signals can be generated in quadrature. The relative phase of the two fringe signals depends on whether the optical path length is increasing or decreasing. A system is developed in which two quadrature fringe signals are digitized and analyzed in real time with a digital signal processor to yield a linear, high-resolution, wide-dynamic-range displacement transducer. The resolution in a simple Michelson interferometer with inexpensive components is 5 x 10(-13) m Hz(-1/2) at 2 Hz.

The Notch signaling pathway uses families of ligands and receptors to transmit signals to nearby cells. These components are expressed in diverse combinations in different cell types, interact in a many-to-many fashion, both within the same cell (in cis) and between cells (in trans), and their interactions are modulated by Fringe glycosyltransferases. A fundamental question is how the strength of Notch signaling depends on which pathway components are expressed, at what levels, and in which cells.

The improper handling and uncontrolled discharge of toxic organic dyes result in significant adverse effects on both human health and the environment. This study investigates the fabrication of SnO₂, yttrium and cobalt dual-doped SnO₂ (YCSn), chitosan-capped SnO₂ (CS*Sn), and chitosan-capped yttrium and cobalt dual-doped SnO₂ (CS*YCSn) nanoparticles using a one-step coprecipitation method for the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) under visible light irradiation. Characterization techniques including X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), and ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometry confirm the successful synthesis of biodegradable CS*YCSn nanoparticles.

An all-fiber vibration sensor based on the Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) is proposed and experimentally evaluated in this study. The sensor is fabricated by introducing a Fabry-Perot cavity to the single-mode fiber using femtosecond laser ablation. The cavity and the tail act together as a cantilever beam, which can be used as a vibration receiver.

At a point, the interference signal must be acquired with a specific condition to adapt the phase-shifting algorithm. This means that all points have two points, of which the phase difference is π/2, when the number of points acquired in a phase period is multiple of 4, despite increasing the data points in a period.
