Fibrosis accounts for approximately one-third of disease-related deaths globally. Current therapies fail to cure fibrosis, emphasizing the need to identify new antifibrotic approaches. Fibrosis is defined by the excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix (ECM) and resultant stiffening of tissue stroma.

Background: The immunosuppressive microenvironment negatively affects the efficacy of chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cells in solid tumors. Fusion protein that combining extracellular domain of inhibitory checkpoint protein and the cytoplasmic domain of stimulatory molecule may improve the efficacy of CAR-T cells by reversing the suppressive signals.
Methods: To generate optimal PD1-TLR10 fusion proteins, PD1 extracellular domain and TLR10 intracellular domain were connected by transmembrane domain from PD1, CD28, or TLR10, respectively.

Microalgae-based wastewater treatment could realize simultaneous nutrients recovery and CO sequestration. However, impacts of environmental microplastics (MPs) and antibiotic co-exposure on microalgal growth, nutrients removal, intracellular nitric oxide (NO) accumulation and subsequent nitrous oxide (NO) emission are unclarified, which could greatly offset the CO sequestration benefit. To reveal the potential impacts of environmental concentrations of MPs and antibiotic co-exposure on microalgal greenhouse gas mitigation, this study investigated the effects of representative MPs (PE, PVC, PA), antibiotic sulfamethoxazole (SMX), and nitrite (NO-N) in various combinations on attached Chlorella sorokiniana growth, nutrients removal, anti-oxidative responses, and NO emission originated from intracellular NO build-up.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) play a key role in cancer development and cellular homeostasis by transferring the biological cargo to recipient cells. Here, we describe steps for screening EV secretion-related genes by combining a microRNA (miRNA) library and ExoScreen, a highly sensitive EV detection technique. We also detail procedures for screening the direct target genes regulated by miRNAs.

Epithelial cells respond to infection with the intracellular bacterial pathogen Listeria monocytogenes by altering their mechanics to promote collective infected cell extrusion (CICE) and limit infection spread across cell monolayers. However, the underlying biochemical pathways remain elusive. Here, using in vitro (epithelial monolayers) and in vivo (zebrafish larvae) models of infection with L.
