The growing interest in environmentally friendly food packaging has led to the development of bio-edible alternatives. This study developed novel, edible, active films and coatings to enhance the shelf life of fresh products. Crude bioactive algal extract (CBAE) was obtained from the ethanol extraction of sp.

This study investigates the mechanical properties and microstructure of basalt fiber (BF) and nanoalumina (NA)-modified ultra-high-performance concrete with recycled aggregates (UHPC-RA) under high-temperature conditions. The effects of different replacement rates of recycled aggregates (RAs), BF content, and NA content on the compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, and elastic modulus were evaluated at ambient temperatures and after exposure to 200 °C, 400 °C, 600 °C, and 800 °C. The results show that mechanical properties decrease with temperature rise, but specimens containing BF exhibited improved crack resistance and better high-temperature integrity.

This research explores the synthesis of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) for the development of a cost-effective bioplastic film that can serve as a sustainable alternative to synthetic plastic. Replacing plastic packaging with CMC-based films offers a solution for mitigating environmental pollution, although the inherent hydrophilicity and low mechanical strength of CMC present significant challenges. To address these limitations, zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) were employed as a biocompatible and non-toxic reinforcement filler to improve CMC's properties.

To address the issue of metal corrosion caused by microcracks in the coating on the steel structures of offshore drilling platforms, this study employs interfacial polymerization to prepare microcapsules with self-healing functionality for coatings. The microcapsules are fabricated through free radical polymerization between methyl methacrylate (MMA) and ammonium persulfate (APS), along with crosslinking reactions involving divinylbenzene (DVB). The particle size distribution and surface morphology of the microcapsules were optimized by adjusting process parameters using optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy.

Global warming causes the release of dioxin-like deposits and increases geographical migration, increasing the risk of exposure for humans and animals. In this experiment, we used CYP1A transgenic zebrafish Tg (cyp1a: mCherry) and liver fluorescent transgenic zebrafish Tg (fabp10: Ps Red) as an animal model and exposed to 2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-Dioxin (TCDD) at 26 °C and 30 °C, respectively. Morphological changes, histological changes, transcriptome and related genes expression were detected.
