Introduction: Previous studies identified genetic links between the TCF7L2 C/T variant rs7903146, type 2 diabetes (T2D), and obesity. We wished to deepen our understanding of how specific diets interact with this variant to affect blood metabolites, an aspect not previously investigated. Hence, we conducted a controlled study where individuals with different genotypes followed a Mediterranean (Med) or low-fat (LF) diet for one week.

Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) has emerged as a leading chronic liver disease. This condition is characterized by an abnormal accumulation of fat within liver and can progress from simple steatosis to more severe stages involving chronic inflammation and oxidative stress. In this study, we investigated the potential therapeutic effects and underlying mechanism of novel bioactive peptides (EWYF and EWFY) on Western diet-induced MAFLD in C57BL/6J mice.

An effective intervention for obesity without side effects is needed. Chrysanthemum may be the preferred choice due to its influence in the improvement of glycolipid metabolism. This study assessed the efficacy of chrysanthemum and its flavonoids in mitigating high-fat diet (HFD) induced obesity, focusing on the integrity of the intestinal barrier, inflammation, and gut microbiota.

This study developed a W/O/W emulsion gel encapsulating proanthocyanidins from Aronia melanocarpa (Michx.) Elliott (APC) using polyglycerol ricinoleate (PGPR) as the lipophilic emulsifier and sodium caseinate (NaCN)-alginate (Alg) as the hydrophilic emulsifier. The optimal preparation process was established based on particle size, zeta potential, phase separation, centrifugal stability, and microscopic morphology: 4.

Obesity treatment requires an individualized approach, emphasizing the need to identify metabolic pathways of diagnostic relevance. Toll-like receptors (TLRs), particularly TLR2 and TLR4, play a crucial role in metabolic disorders, as receptor deficiencies improves insulin sensitivity and reduces obesity-related inflammation. Additionally, hydrogen sulfide (HS) influences lipolysis, adipogenesis, and adipose tissue browning through persulfidation.
