Background: Impaired renal function can increase cardiac troponin levels due to reduced elimination, potentially affecting its diagnostic utility. Limited data exist on high-sensitivity cardiac troponin I (hs-cTnI) kinetics after cardiac surgery relative to renal function. This study evaluates how impaired renal function influences hs-cTnI kinetics following cardiac surgery, distinguishing between patients with and without postoperative myocardial infarction (PMI).

However, the strengths of the commercially available ST platforms in studying spatial biology have not been systematically evaluated using rigorously controlled experiments. In this study, we used serial 5-µm sections of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded surgically resected lung adenocarcinoma and pleural mesothelioma tumor samples in tissue microarrays to compare the performance of the single cell ST platforms CosMx, MERFISH, and Xenium (uni/multi-modal) platforms in reference to bulk RNA sequencing, multiplex immunofluorescence, GeoMx Digital Spatial Profiler, and hematoxylin and eosin staining data for the same samples.

For Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb), differentially culturable bacteria have been found in tuberculosis (TB) patient sputa. We hypothesized that antibiotic treatment can induce selective culturability in Mtb.

An increasing number of evolutionary studies seek to quantify the morphological complexity of organisms, particularly those comprising serially homologous elements at different hierarchical levels of organization. Numerous operational frameworks have been proposed for doing this, but most focus on one or multiple conflated aspects of what is really a multidimensional concept. Here, we advocate the use of 'complexity spaces': multidimensional spaces defined by different vectors of complexity.

Objectives: The dynamics of monosodium urate (MSU) crystal changes across a range of serum urate concentrations in people with gout are unknown. This study aimed to systematically examine the relationship between serum urate and changes in dual-energy CT (DECT) urate volume in people with gout and stable serum urate concentrations.
Methods: Individual participant data were analysed from three studies of people with gout.
