Poor sleep is common in hospitalised patients due to multiple factors, including disruption of the circadian rhythm. Few studies have examined programmable artificial lighting systems in hospital patient rooms, and few have achieved meaningful improvement in sleep. We sought to determine how novel dynamic lighting affects sleep timing and duration compared to standard hospital lighting.

However, sometimes the N400 at an unexpected word is small when stereotypical agent and patient roles are reversed, such as at "arrested" in "the cop that the thief arrested." In a study of 74 native German speakers, we demonstrate evidence that readers can avoid this so-called "N400 semantic illusion" if the verb is delayed with neutral information such as "that evening," but are less able to do so if the delay contains cues that could further strengthen the canonical interpretation, such as "with handcuffs.

Laying hens' metabolism goes through a cyclic process to produce eggs, which requires higher dietary protein and energy in the morning (AM) and higher calcium (Ca) in the afternoon/evening (PM) than the rest of the day. Therefore, poultry scientists are trying to adopt a new feeding strategy called AM/PM or split feeding to precisely meet hen's requirements more effectively than conventional methods. A 10-week cage layer trial was carried out via a Box-Behnken response surface design to identify the optimal amount of protein, energy, and calcium of the AM/PM diets.

A modified AM/PM strategy was evaluated in this study by supplementing calcium (Ca) in afternoon/evening (PM) drinking water instead of feed, offering an alternative to supplying two diets. A 10-week trial was conducted with 288 Hy-Line Brown hens (56 weeks old) housed on the floor in 18 pens (16 hens per pen; 9 replicate pens per treatment). The control diet contained 4.

Background: Phenylketonuria (PKU) is a rare, hereditary disease that causes disruption in phenylalanine (Phe) metabolism. Despite early intervention, individuals with PKU may have difficulty in several different cognitive domains, including verbal fluency, processing speed, and executive functioning.
Objective: The overarching goal of the Evaluating Fluctuations in Cognitive and Speech Characteristics in Phenylketonuria study (CSP Study) is to characterize the relationships among cognition, speech, mood, and blood-based biomarkers (Phe, Tyr) in individuals with early treated PKU.
