Decoding the rhythmic representation and communication of visual contents.

Trends Neurosci

Neural Computation Group, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Physics, Geography, Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen, Gießen 35392, Germany; Center for Mind, Brain and Behavior (CMBB), Philipps-Universität Marburg, Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen & Technische Universität Darmstadt, Marburg 35032, Germany. Electronic address:

Rhythmic neural activity is considered essential for adaptively modulating responses in the visual system. In this opinion article we posit that visual brain rhythms also serve a key function in the representation and communication of visual contents. Collating a set of recent studies that used multivariate decoding methods on rhythmic brain signals, we highlight such rhythmic content representations in visual perception, imagery, and prediction.

Chapter 7: CLINICAL FORMS AT DIFFERENT AGES OF LIFE: CHILDHOOD, PREGNANCY, LACTATION, OLD AGE.

Ann Endocrinol (Paris)

January 2025

Université Paris-Saclay, Inserm, Endocrine Physiology and Physiopathology, Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris, Hôpital Bicêtre, Service d'Endocrinologie et des Maladies de la Reproduction and Centre de Référence des Maladies Rares de l'Hypophyse HYPO, F-94270 Le Kremlin-Bicêtre, France. Electronic address:

Primary hyperparathyroidism is rare in children. A germline mutation is identified in half of all children with primary hyperparathyroidism (70% of newborns and infants, and 40% of children and adolescents). The clinical manifestations of primary hyperparathyroidism in children are highly variable (often absent in newborns, rather severe and symptomatic in children and adolescents) and depend on the genetic cause, as well as the severity, rapidity of onset and duration of hypercalcemia.

Chapter 12: PREPARATION FOR PARATHYROID SURGERY.

Ann Endocrinol (Paris)

Electronic address:

Preoperative treatment of PHPT aims to 1) manage severe and/or symptomatic hypercalcemia and 2) prevent postoperative hypocalcemia. Severe hypercalcemia, defined as a blood calcium level ≥ 3.5 mmol/L, requires admission to hospital in a conventional or critical care unit, depending on clinical symptoms and comorbidities.

Frontostriatal connectivity dynamically modulates the adaptation to environmental volatility.

Neuroimage

January 2025

Beijing Key Laboratory of Applied Experimental Psychology, National Demonstration Center for Experimental Psychology Education (BNU), Faculty of Psychology, Beijing Normal University, Beijing, China; Center for Neuroimaging, Shenzhen Institute of Neuroscience, Shenzhen, China. Electronic address:

Humans adjust their learning strategies in changing environments by estimating the volatility of the reinforcement conditions. Here, we examine how volatility affects learning and the underlying functional brain organizations using a probabilistic reward reversal learning task. We found that the order of states was critically important; participants adjusted learning rate going from volatile to stable, but not from stable to volatile, environments.

Purpose: Recovery rate of rod photoreceptor sensitivity (S2 gradient) following a bleach is reduced in age-related macular degeneration (AMD) due to diminished delivery of retinol across a grossly altered Bruch's membrane. Since triterpenoid saponins are known to improve transport across Bruch's, we have assessed their possible use for reversing the visual deficits in AMD.

Design: Double-blind, placebo controlled randomised clinical trial.
