Optic nerve gliomas are tumors that develop along the optic nerve pathway, most often classified as pilocytic astrocytomas. These growths are typically benign, especially in young children between the ages of one and six years, while the rarer malignant types are generally more aggressive and tend to appear in adults. Characteristically slow-growing, optic nerve gliomas are commonly located in the pre-chiasmal part of the optic nerve but can extend to post-chiasmal regions and into the brain if left untreated.

Optic nerve gliomas (ONG) are benign central nervous system tumours and the most common tumours of the optic nerve in children, often occurring before age 20. These tumours are slow-growing and can be treated with surgery and/or radiation therapy. Surgical resection is, however, associated with significant morbidity and loss of vision in the affected eye.

Methods: This retrospective study included 45 patients who underwent free-hand frameless pinless AXIEM™-based navigation guided biopsy of deep-seated brain lesions using the Medtronic-Stealth S7 system over a 5-year period (January 2019 to December 2023) at the Department of Neurosurgery, Punjab Institute of Neurosciences, Lahore, Pakistan.

Results: A total of 45 patients were included in this study.

Background: Recently, we developed AT101, an IgM-class mouse monoclonal antibody directed against glypican-1 (GPC1), a proteoglycan that can be considered as useful target for glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) treatment being specifically and highly expressed on GBM cell surface. Here, we proposed the use of AT101 as targeting agent in a drug delivery nanoplatfom to effectively deliver chitosan nanobubbles (NBs) for GBM treatment.

Methods: Chitosan NBs were prepared and conjugated with AT101 or left unconjugated as control.

Background: Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is one of the most common complications in patients with Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), yet its prognosis is generally poor. The impact of surgery on DLBCL remains controversial. We present a case of DLBCL associated with HIV infection, in which the patient achieved complete remission following surgical removal, radiotherapy, and sequential dose-adjusted EPOCH (DA-EPOCH) chemotherapy.
