Cutaneous melanoma (CM) represents a severe skin cancer with a rising incidence at present and limited treatment options. 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) is widely used, including for CM; however, the innate resistance of this cancer to conventional therapy remains problematic. Quercetin (QUE) is a flavonoid that can sensitize cancer cells to antitumor agents such as 5-FU.

The clinical and histological presentation of inflammatory disease in the skin is exceedingly heterogeneous. Nonetheless, most inflammatory dermatoses can be classified according to five stereotypical tissue-reaction patterns: the spongiotic, the lichenoid, the psoriasiform, the vesiculo-bullous and the vasculopathic. By means of potent antigen-presenting cells, cytokine and chemokine cascades and a skin-specific cutaneous lymphocyte antigen (CLA)-positive lymphocyte population, the skin is able to respond very efficiently to pathogens that threaten the individual.

Background: Helicobacter pylori is a gram-negative, curved, microaerophilic, oxidase, catalase and urease positive bacillus. It lives in the gastric mucosa, and is the main etiological agent of peptic ulcer, and of atrophic and multifocal gastritis. It is associated with extraintestinal, vascular, autoimmune and cutaneous diseases.
