Transient blindness is an extremely rare complication of transurethral resection (TUR) syndrome, which is a well-known complication recognized by urologists and anesthesiologists. TUR syndrome arises from the intravascular absorption of hypotonic fluids during the procedure. In this case report, an 80-year-old male patient experienced transient blindness after undergoing transurethral resection of the prostate.

Focal nerve injuries are often associated with neuropathic pain. Preclinical research suggests altered neuroimmune signalling underlies such neuropathic pain; however, its cause remains poorly understood in humans. In this multicentre cohort study, we describe the local cellular and molecular signature of neuropathic pain at the lesion site, using Morton's neuroma as a human model system of neuropathic pain (n = 22; 18 women) compared with nerves from participants without nerve injury (n = 11; 4 women).

A 32-year-old lady presented with acute paroxysmal facial pain in the V1-V2 distribution, lower cranial nerve dysfunction, and mild long-tract neurological signs. Paroxysmal facial pain with features of trigeminal autonomic cephalgia (TAC) and trigeminal neuralgia (TN) (Tic) was the unique presentation in this case, explained by involvement of the somatotopically arranged spinal trigeminal nucleus. She had two attacks of area postrema syndrome (APS) preceding the current symptoms, evaluated as a gastroenterological disorder, causing a delay in imaging and AQP4-seropositive diagnosis of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD).

A 32-year old lady with AQP4-Antibody positive neuromyelitis optica developed a new-onset complex movement disorder after therapeutic plasma exchange, which was initially suspected to be hypocalcemic carpo-pedal spasm. However, when her bilateral, distal predominant, paroxysmal, stereotypic, wrist and finger flexor tonic contractions did not respond to serum calcium correction, other diagnoses were considered. The patient had a dramatic response to oral carbamazepine suggesting that the tonic spasms were likely a spinal movement disorder due to the primary demyelinating pathology.
