Background: The Endoscopic Endonasal Approach (EEA) has revolutionized the treatment landscape for optic pathway-hypothalamic gliomas (OPHGs) by providing precise visualization of the lesion neuroanatomic and minimizing brain manipulation. Despite the variable clinical trajectories of OPHGs, the optimal management neurosurgical strategy continues to be a subject of debate.
Methods: We present a case of an 8-year-old female with an OPHG who underwent EEA and performed a systematic review search in English and Spanish case reports from January 2007 (date of first reported case) to June 2024, focusing on OPHG treated with EEA.

The neuropeptide oxytocin (OXT) and its receptor (OXTR) have been shown to play an important role in glucose metabolism, and pancreatic islets express this ligand and receptor. In the current study, OXTR expression was identified in α-, β-, and δ-cells of the pancreatic islet by RNA hybridization, and OXT protein expression was observed only in β-cells. In order to examine the contribution of islet OXT/OXTR in glycemic control and islet β-cell heath, we developed a β-cell specific OXTR knock-out (β-KO) mouse.

An anion shunt conductance was first suggested in secretory granules of bovine chromaffin cells nearly five decades ago. Biochemical identity of this conductance remains undefined.

Female reproduction comes at great expense to energy metabolism compensated by extensive organ adaptations including intestinal size. Upon mating, endocrine signals orchestrate a 30% net increase of absorptive epithelium. Mating increases production of the steroid hormone Ecdysone released by the Drosophila ovaries that stimulates intestinal stem cell (ISC) divisions.

Purpose Of Review: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a complex endocrine disorder with several causal pathways including impaired glucose tolerance, insulin resistance (IR), compensatory hyperinsulinemia and excess androgens (hyperandrogenism). This heterogeneous condition causes a range of reproductive, metabolic and psychological implications, the severity of which can differ between individuals depending on factors such as age, diet, ethnicity, genetics, medication, contraceptive use, adiposity, and Body Mass Index (BMI).
Recent Findings: Dietary interventions that focus on a low glycaemic index and glucose control are an efficient first-line dietary solution for the management of impaired glucose tolerance and IR, which subsequently improves weight management, quality of life and PCOS-related symptoms in individuals with this condition.
