For the UK to harness the opportunities presented within applied chronobiology, we need to build our network outwards to reach stakeholders that can directly benefit from our discoveries. In this article, we discuss the importance of biological rhythms to our health, society, economy and environment, with a particular focus on circadian rhythms.

Background: Depression not only fosters the development of metabolic syndrome through behavioral, physiological, genetic, and treatment-related factors, but it also doubles the risk of experiencing metabolic syndrome. The objectives were to assess the sociodemographic and clinical profile of patients with depressive disorder, to assess the various metabolic parameters of metabolic syndrome in patients with depressive disorder, and to study the association between the severity of depression and metabolic syndrome.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among patients diagnosed with depression (n = 160) attending the Psychiatry outpatient department of a tertiary healthcare facility in Puducherry.

Introduction: In current and anticipated future conflicts, including large-scale combat operations, medical teams are tasked to provide prolonged casualty care (PCC) or extended patient care that occurs when delays in evacuation exceed the team's capabilities. Although the principles of PCC are often taught to military medical providers using simulation, educators rarely dedicate the time to training required to simulate the prolonged nature of these encounters. Therefore, a lack of knowledge exists regarding which aspects of extended care may be lost in an accelerated training scenario.
