Background: Blood donation is a resource of great value; it is essential to ensure its correct and reasonable use. An excessive and unjustified demand for blood leads to an increase in cross matching and loss of components; Therefore, it is crucial to guarantee its proper use through the development of a maximum blood order program for surgery.

Objective: Develop and implement a maximum surgical blood order program at the Hospital de Cardiología, Centro Médico Nacional Siglo XXI.
