Influence of copper and aging on freely dissolved tetracycline concentration in soil.

Environ Sci Pollut Res Int

November 2023

National Demonstration Center for Environmental and Planning, College of Environment and Planning, Henan University, Kaifeng, 475004, China.

Copper (Cu) and tetracyclines (TCs) often coexist in agricultural soils because of the use of manures on farmland; however, the influence of Cu on the bioavailability of TCs is still unclear, especially for cases with aging Cu. The freely dissolved concentrations (FDCs) of TCs are believed to be directly related to their bioavailability. In the present study, the FDCs of TCs were determined using organic-diffusive gradients in thin films (o-DGT), and the influence of Cu on the FDCs of TCs in soils was evaluated.

Lariat ethers are macrocyclic polyethers-crown ethers-to which sidearms are appended. 4,13-Diaza-18-crown-6 having twin alkyl chains at the nitrogens show biological activity. They exhibit antibiotic activity, but when co-administered at with an FDA-approved antibiotic, the latter's potency is often strongly enhanced.

First description of interdigital hyperplasia associated with contagious ovine digital dermatitis in two sheep.

Front Vet Sci

January 2023

Clinic for Ruminants, Department of Clinical Veterinary Science, Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Bern, Bern, Switzerland.

Interdigital hyperplasia (IH) is a fold of fibrous tissue protruding into the interdigital space that rarely occurs in sheep. Interdigital hyperplasia secondary infected with bovine digital dermatitis (BDD) treponemes has been reported in cattle in the course of the increasing spread of classical BDD lesions. In this report, we describe proliferative/ulcerative interdigital lesions associated with contagious ovine digital dermatitis (CODD) treponemes and clinically scored as (IH+CODD), occurring in both hind limbs of a ram and the left hindlimb of a ewe.

Electronic address:

Background: Based on self-report questionnaires, two previous epidemiological studies investigated the association between the exposure of women to antibiotics and their fertility. However, biomonitoring studies on low-dose antibiotic exposure, mainly from food and water, and its relation to the risk of infertility are missing.

Methods: Based on a case-control study design, 302 women with infertility (144 primary infertility, 158 secondary infertility) and 302 women with normal fertility, all aged 20-49 years, were recruited from Anhui Province, China, in 2020 and 2021.
