The ability to represent and infer accurately others' mental states, known as Theory of Mind (ToM), has been theorised to be associated with metacognitive ability. Here, we considered the role of metacognition in mental state inference through the lens of a recent theoretical approach to explaining ToM, the 'Mind-space' framework. The Mind-space framework posits that trait inference, representation of the qualities of the mind giving rise to the mental state, is important in forming accurate mental state inferences.

Peer acceptance is an important facet of child development. Much of the previous research focused on peer acceptance during the elementary school years, so more work is needed to understand peer acceptance and its antecedents during the preschool years. The goal of this study was to test the extent to which children's self-regulation mediates the association between parent-child relationships and peer acceptance during the preschool years in our sample of 134 4- and 5-year-old children.

Introduction: Research on feedback has shifted emphasis away from its 'delivery' to consideration of the interaction between individual learners and their 'feedback provider'. The complexity inherent in determining whether feedback is perceived as valuable by learners, however, can quickly overwhelm educators if every interaction must be considered completely idiosyncratic. We, therefore, require a better understanding of variability in the ways in which feedback is perceived.
