Published: January 2004

To treat patients suffering from diabetes mellitus, we developed several types of orally active vanadyl complexes to replace painful insulin injections, and prepared them in the form of enteric-coated capsules containing vanadium compounds. Pharmacokinetic analysis demonstrated that these capsules enhance the bioavailability of pharmacologically active vanadyl species.

Biodegradable Vanadium-Based Nanomaterials for Photothermal-Enhanced Tumor Ferroptosis and Pyroptosis.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

Molecular Diagnostic Center, Key Laboratory of Clinical Cancer Pharmacology and Toxicology Research of Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou First People's Hospital, Hangzhou 310006, China.

The designability and high reactivity of nanotechnology provide strategies for antitumor therapy by regulating the redox state in tumor cells. Here, we synthesize a kind of vanadium dioxide nanoparticle encapsulated in bovine serum albumin and containing disulfide bonds (VSB NPs) for photothermal-enhanced ferroptosis and pyroptosis effects. Mechanism studies show that disulfide bonds can effectively consume overexpressed glutathione (GSH) in the tumor microenvironment, leading to a decrease in glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) activity.

Fulfilment of energy demand by utilizing renewable energy sources that do not contribute to the production of greenhouse gases is a step forward in mitigating global warming. However, with the energy sources being intermittent in nature, renewable energy needs to be stored effectively on a grid scale. In this context, the development of redox-flow batteries has emerged as a promising technology where charging and discharging processes are accomplished by the redox shuttling of the electrolytes, namely anolytes and catholytes.

A novel dual-mode microfluidic sensing platform integrating photoelectrochemical (PEC) and fluorescence (FL) sensors was developed for the sensitive monitoring of heart fatty acid binding protein (h-FABP). First, BiVO/AgInS (BVAIS) composites with excellent photoelectric activity were synthesized as sensing matrices. The BVAIS heterojunction with a well-matched internal energy level structure provided a stable photocurrent.

Carbon-dot-induced oxygen vacancies in copper vanadate enabling persulfate photoactivation for tetracycline degradation.

J Colloid Interface Sci

Synchronously creating oxygen vacancies (OVs) and an internal electric field (IEF) in photocatalysts could be an ideal strategy to facilitate photogenerated charge separation and surface reactions but remain unexplored for this use. In this work, we report that low-cost and multifunctional CDs can involve in the nucleation reaction of copper vanadates (CuVs) to create OVs and proper IEF at the interface by modulating the valence states of coppers under hydrothermal conditions. Thus, CDs synergistically serve as oxygen vacancy inducer and charge separator in CuVs to extract photogenerated carriers to trigger persulfate (PS) activation for the degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride (TC).
