The existence of a dispersion-managed soliton in two-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation with periodically varying dispersion has been explored. The averaged equations for the soliton width and chirp are obtained which successfully describe the long time evolution of the soliton. The slow dynamics of the soliton around the fixed points for the width and chirp are investigated and the corresponding frequencies are calculated. Analytical predictions are confirmed by direct partial differential equation (PDE) and ordinary differential equation (ODE) simulations. Application to a Bose-Einstein condensate in optical lattice is discussed. The existence of a dispersion-managed matter-wave soliton in such system is shown.

We demonstrated a dispersion-managed 2 µm ultrafast laser based on Tm:ZBLAN fiber. By controlling intracavity net dispersion using passive fibers, we observed soliton, stretched-pulse, and dissipative-soliton mode-locked operations. In particular, the broadest output spectrum with a bandwidth at 30 dB below the peak of 320 nm and a pulse duration of 61 fs were obtained at a net dispersion of -0.

The paper describes the observation of diverse bound-state patterns, including tightly bound states, loosely bound states, and composite bound states, in a figure-9 fiber laser. By performing dispersion management and using polarization-maintaining fibers with high gain coefficient, stable dispersion-managed solitons and bound solitons can be simultaneously generated. This work advances our understanding of complex soliton dynamics and presents a novel, to the best of our knowledge, approach for future applications of bound states.

Restricted by the narrow gain bandwidth of Yb near 980 nm, it is challenging to generate dispersion-managed (DM) solitons at this wavelength. In this work, we demonstrate the generation of DM solitons at 978 nm in a polarization-maintaining (PM) figure-of-9 fiber laser. Highly coherent pulses with 14.

High-repetition-rate (up to GHz) femtosecond mode-locked lasers have attracted significant attention in many applications, such as broadband spectroscopy, high-speed optical sampling, and so on. In this paper, the characteristics of dispersion-managed, polarization-maintaining (PM) 1-GHz mode-locked fiber lasers were investigated both experimentally and numerically. Three compact and robust 1-GHz fiber lasers operating at anomalous, normal, and near-zero dispersion regimes were demonstrated, respectively.

We reported on the generation of 99.8 fs, 25 kW peak-power, dispersion-managed pulses directly from a passively mode-locked Yb-fiber laser oscillator with a figure-of-9 configuration. The introduction of strongly injected pump power and optical components with a high damage threshold enables high-power operation, while the polarization-maintaining (PM) fiber supports environmentally stable self-started mode-locking.
