Background: Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) is associated with an increased risk of dementia and may lead to chronic neurodegeneration. The utilization of intraoperative Transcutaneous Electrical Acupoint Stimulation (TEAS) in conjunction with anesthesia is expected to become an effective preventive measure for POCD in clinical practice.
Methods: We conducted a comprehensive literature review focusing on the use of TEAS in the prevention of POCD during surgical anesthesia.

Methods: The review followed PRISMA guidelines, employing a comprehensive search strategy across multiple databases (PubMed, Cochrane, EBSCO, LILACS, Google Scholar, and Embase) from 2014 to July 2024. Eligibility criteria were based on the PICOS framework, focusing on randomized clinical trials and clinical studies involving pediatric patients undergoing dental procedures with local anesthesia.

Objective: Transcutaneous osseointegration prosthetic systems (TOPS) offer a stable skeletal attachment for artificial limbs post-extremity amputation, serving as an alternative to socket attachment. Press-fit osseointegration implants (OI) utilized in TOPS consistently enhance quality of life and mobility for amputees, particularly those experiencing socket-related issues. Despite notable benefits, late complications such as infection and implant loosening pose challenges unique to TOPS due to their percutaneous nature.

The phase-dependent modulation pattern of the tibialis anterior (TA) flexion reflex was characterized during treadmill walking while transspinal stimulation was delivered at 15, 30, and 50 Hz above and below paresthesia in healthy participants. The flexion reflex was elicited following medial arch foot stimulation with a 30 ms (300 Hz) pulse train. During treadmill walking, the flexion reflex was evoked in the right leg every 3 to 5 steps, and stimuli were randomly dispersed across the step cycle that was divided into 16 equal bins.

Objective: Differences in cognitive outcomes for two home-based 16-week interventions after usual rehabilitative care post-hip fracture were examined.
Methods: Community Ambulation Project randomized controlled trial included 210 hip fracture participants. Interventions: Specific multi-component (PUSH) included strength-, balance-, function-, and endurance-based exercises; non-specific active control (PULSE) included seated range-of-motion exercises and sensory transcutaneous electrical neurostimulation.
