Pharmaceutical manufacturing of semisolid matrices a past meeting two requirements: sufficient fluidity and sufficient viscosity. Ideally, the paste should have strong viscosity associated with a high dissolution rate. We studied the correlation between the viscosity and dissolution rate of polyethylene glycol (PEG) semisolid matrices (SSM) enclosing theophylline as a tracer. Nine formulations containing PEG of different molecular masses were studied. This work revealed the singularity of PEG binary mixtures. For pharmaceutical manufacturing, the conclusion of this work is that PEG binary mixtures enable circumventing the generally verified constraint: strong viscosity involves low dissolution ability.

Model-informed drug development (MIDD) is an approach to improve the efficiency of drug development. To promote awareness and application of MIDD in Japan, the Data Science Expert Committee of the Drug Evaluation Committee in the Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association established a task force, which surveyed MIDD applications for approved products in Japan. This study aimed to reveal the trends and challenges in the use of MIDD by analyzing the survey results.

Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, National University of Singapore, 117585 Singapore.

C aromatic isomers, namely para-xylene (PX), meta-xylene (MX), ortho-xylene (OX), and ethylbenzene (EB), are essential industrial chemicals with a wide range of applications. The effective separation of these isomers is crucial across various sectors, including petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and polymer manufacturing. Traditional separation methods, such as distillation and solvent extraction, are energy-intensive.

Adeno-associated virus (AAV)-associated gene therapy has been increasingly promising, in light of the drugs progressed to clinical trials or approved for medications internationally. Therefore, scalable and efficient production of recombinant AAV is pivotal for advancing gene therapy. Traditional methods, such as the triple-plasmid transfection of human embryonic kidney 293 cells in suspension culture, have been widely employed but often hampered by low unit yield.

Recently, there has been a great interest in the development of innovative wound dressing materials based on natural bioactives, as they can accelerate the healing process and address the issues related to traditional wound dressings. The current study focuses on developing a novel derivative of guar gum (GG) and gallic acid (GA) using a simple, free radical-mediated polymerization reaction aimed at enhancing the antioxidant properties of GG. Multiple spectroscopic investigations were performed to validate the GA-GG conjugate.
