Reconstructing multidimensional NMR spectra from 2-D projections significantly reduces the time needed for data collection over conventional methodology. Here, we provide a generalization of the projection-reconstruction process to spectra of arbitrary dimensionality, using a concept of coordinate rotation to produce explicit expressions for reconstruction. These expressions allow one to reconstruct subsets of the higher dimensionality space without producing the full spectrum, permitting convenient analysis of the data. We demonstrate the effectiveness of these procedures in the reconstruction of the 5-D HACACONH spectrum of protein G B1 domain from 12 2-D projections collected in five experiments. We further demonstrate that the base spectra of GFT-NMR are equivalent to projections of the 5-D spectrum at fixed angles.

GABA (γ-aminobutyric acid) is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. In response to injury within the central nervous system, GABA promotes cortical plasticity and represents a potential pharmacological target to improve functional recovery. However, it is unclear how GABA changes in the brain after traumatic brachial plexus injuries (tBPIs) which represents the rationale for this pilot study.

The NMR signals from protein sidechains are rich in information about intra- and inter-molecular interactions, but their detection can be complicated due to spectral overlap as well as conformational and hydrogen exchange. In this work, we demonstrate a protocol for multi-dimensional solid-state NMR spectral editing of signals from basic sidechains based on Hadamard matrix encoding. The Hadamard method acquires multi-dimensional experiments in such a way that both the backbone and under-sampled sidechain signals can be decoded for unambiguous editing in the N spectral frequency dimension.

In this paper, a series of novel quinazoline-4(3)-one-2-carbothioamide derivatives (8a-p) were designed and synthesized the Wilgerodt-Kindler reaction between 2-methylquinazoline-4-one 10 and amines using S/DMSO as the oxidizing system. Their characteristics were confirmed by IR, NMR, HRMS spectra, and their melting point. These novel derivatives (8a-p) were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting NO production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated RAW 264.

In the field of chiral smectic liquid crystals, orthoconic antiferroelectric liquid crystals (OAFLCs) have attracted the interest of the scientific community due to the very high tilt angle, close to 45°, and the consequent optical properties. In the present study, the first H NMR investigation is reported on two samples, namely 3F5HPhF9 and 3F7HPhF8, showing the phase sequence isotropic-SmC*-SmC* and the phase sequence isotropic-SmA-SmC*-SmC*, respectively, when cooling from the isotropic to the crystalline phases. To this aim, the liquid crystals were doped with a small amount of deuterated probe biphenyl-4,4'-diol-d.

Four novel arecoline alkaloid atropisomers, arechuines A-D (-), were obtained from the peels of L. Their structures were elucidated by UV, IR, MS and NMR spectra. The absolute configurations of (+)/(-)- were determined by comparing the experimental and calculated ECD spectra.
