We describe a 4-yr-old boy with an occult primitive neuroectodermal tumor, who suffered fatal PTE after a second course of HDC with autologous PBSCT. On day + 52 after a second PBSCT, he was admitted because of respiratory distress. Respiratory failure rapidly progressed and he died within 4 days. The diagnosis of PTE was confirmed by a lung perfusion study with technetium-99m macroaggregated albumin, but too late to allow treatment. Although rare, PTE must be recognized as an important differential diagnosis when respiratory symptoms are observed after HDC with PBSCT.

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic immune-mediated esophageal disease, clinically characterised by symptoms of esophageal dysfunction and histologically by eosinophilic infiltration of its wall. The last 3 decades have seen a sharp increase in its incidence to the point that it is called the second most common esophageal disease after reflux disease in some recent studies. The main indicators of EoE are food allergens and in recent years the extremely important role of oral immunotherapy (OIT) in the development of this disease has also been increasingly raised.

Widely used second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides like brodifacoum are classified as persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic. Widespread exposure of terrestrial and avian non-target species is well-known and recently hepatic anticoagulant rodenticide residues have been detected in wild fish. However, no sufficient data exist to interpret the effects of these findings on fish health.
