A hexanuclear copper(ii) complex with a figure-of-eight strip topology is formed by metal-directed self-assembly of tritopic ligand L, bis-bidentate glycine hydroxamic acid and Cu(ii) ions in a 2:2:6 ratio.

A simple wideband reflective type linear-cross and linear-circular polarization converter for terahertz (THz) applications is proposed in this paper. The top frequency selective surface (FSS) consists of a thin gold coated figure of eight square loop with the connected strip line corners on a thin grounded polyamide dielectric substrate. For the /-polarized incidence, the design exhibits linear-circular conversion with an axial ratio (≤3) from 0.

A pair of meso-unsubstituted expanded carbaporphyrins containing two carbazole moieties were prepared in high isolated yields (82 and 76 %, respectively). The two macrocycles, namely 3 and 4, differ with respect to their substitution at the carbazole N-atoms i. e.

The preparation, assembly and dynamic properties of photoswitchable bisphosphine ligands based on the stiff-stilbene scaffold are reported. Directional bonding and coordination-induced assembly allow complexation of these ligands with palladium(II), resulting in the formation of discrete metallo-supramolecular entities. While the Z isomer forms a simple bidentate metallo-macrocycle, an intricate double helicate figure-of-eight dimer is observed with the E ligand.

Clinical MRI/MRS applications require radio frequency (RF) surface coils positioned at an arbitrary angle alpha with respect to B(0). In these experimental conditions the standard circular loop (CL) coil, producing an axial RF field, shows a large signal loss in the central region of interest (ROI). We demonstrate that transverse-field figure-of-eight (FO8) RF surface coils design are not subject to the same amount of signal loss in the central ROI as loop coils when their orientations are changed.
