Allergic reactions to latex have become a significant public health problem, particularly among health care workers (HCWs). The objective of this cross-sectional study was to determine the prevalence of latex allergy and risk factors for latex sensitization among HCWs in Bolu in Turkey. The prevalence of latex allergy or hypersensitivity among HCWs was 19.1%. HCWs with atopic disease, contact dermatitis, and increased glove use were at increased risk of sensitization. Increased awareness of the problem by HCWs is important to identify those at risk.

In the present study, we used phenotypic and molecular methods to determine susceptibility to oxacillin in coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS) and estimate the prevalence of strains with low-level resistance to oxacillin, A-positive oxacillin-susceptible methicillin-resistant (OS-MRCoNS), and borderline oxacillin-resistant (BORCoNS). One hundred one CoNS strains were screened for oxacillin and cefoxitin susceptibility using phenotypic (disk diffusion, agar dilution, latex agglutination, and chromagar) and molecular (detection of A, B, and C) methods. Staphylococcal cassette chromosome (SCC) typing was performed.

The genus Euphorbia, belonging to the family Euphorbiaceae, represents a significant ethnobotanical heritage due to the diverse bioactive properties exhibited. In this study, the phytochemical composition and biological activities of latex and aerial parts of the water extract of Euphorbia gaillardotii were investigated. Phytochemical analyses were performed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and high-performance liquid chromatography techniques and total antioxidants, phenolics, sugars, organic acids, and aroma components were quantitatively determined.

Introduction: Serum cystatin C (CysC) is used to estimate glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), including in the Chronic Kidney Disease in Children (CKiD) Under 25 years (U25eGFR) equations. Several CysC measurement procedures available from diagnostic vendors include reference material for calibration, but the extent of heterogeneity across manufacturers is unclear. Since heterogeneity may have clinical and research implications for eGFR, we evaluated three CysC procedures in samples from the CKiD study representing a wide spectrum of kidney function.

Background And Objectives: The intraosseous subarcuate loop (SL) is a unique variant of the anterior inferior cerebellar artery (AICA), where a loop of the artery is trapped in the petrous bone's subarcuate fossa (SF). Recognizing this variant is crucial for planning cerebellopontine angle (CPA) surgeries; however, data regarding its frequency and management vary in the published literature. A cohort from a single center was studied using MRI to assess its prevalence, and the findings were compared with the existing literature.
