Published: January 2004

A case of virilizing ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor overexpressing the BCL2 gene and including a novel clonal chromosomal rearrangement of chromosome 18, der(5)t(5;18)(p13;q12),+6,+12, der(18)r(5;18)(p15.3p13;p11.3q12) is described. Further studies of these rare tumors are necessary to ascertain the significance of the findings.

Scopoleitin (SP), a bioactive compound from many edible plants and fruits, exerts a wide range of biological activities, however the role and mechanism of SP in acetaminophen (APAP)-induced hepatotoxicity remains unclear. In this study, we verified the protective effect of SP on APAP-induced liver injury (AILI) hepatotoxicity and explore the underlying molecular mechanisms. Here, we showed that SP alleviated AILI by reducing serum alanine transaminase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) levels, hepatic histopathological damage, inflammation, and liver cell apoptosis.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is marked by the proliferation of abnormal myeloid progenitor cells in the bone marrow and blood, leading to low cure rates despite new drug approvals from 2017 to 2018. Current therapies often fail due to the emergence of drug resistance mechanisms, such as those involving anti-apoptotic pathways and immune evasion, highlighting an urgent need for novel approaches to overcome these limitations. Programmed cell death (PCD) is crucial for tissue homeostasis, with PANoptosis-a form of PCD integrating pyroptosis, apoptosis, and necroptosis-recently identified.

Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) and Actinic Keratosis (AK) are prevalent skin conditions with significant health complications. The molecular mechanisms underlying these conditions and their potential shared pathways remain ambiguous despite their prevalence. Therefore, this study aims to elucidate the common molecular pathways and potential therapeutic targets for BCC and AK through comprehensive computational network analysis.

Increasing demand for adeno-associated virus (AAV) used in gene therapy highlights the need to enhance AAV production. When intracellular AAV2 and extracellular AAV9 were produced in HEK293T cells using the triple transfection method, apoptosis occurred during the AAV production. To mitigate apoptosis induced by AAV production, the pro-apoptotic BAX/BAK1 genes were knocked out in HEK293T cells.

Objective: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a diverse condition with an unknown cause. The precise mechanism underlying ovulatory abnormalities in PCOS remains unclear. It is widely believed that malfunction of granulosa cells is the primary factor contributing to aberrant follicular formation in PCOS.
