Problem: Reports from the accident literature indicate that accident rates tend to vary with type of occupation. The mining industry has been recorded as the most dangerous with a high disabling injury rate. This observation has been attributed to the extremely stressful conditions under which miners work. Besides, the intimidating work environment in the mines has been insinuated to invoke a sense of helplessness, fatalism and hence defensive causal attributions for accident occurrences.
Method: This study compared causal attributions between accident victims in Ghana's mining industry with their counterparts in textile factories. T values and Chi-square were employed to test for statistically significant differences between the two groups of accident victims.
Results: Findings indicate that there is no difference between the causal attributions for miners and non-miners.
Impact On Industry: Accident frequency and occupational type have no impact on causal attributions.

Background/purpose: Nurses play a vital role in providing effective family-centered care (FCC) to enhance the quality of healthcare for children with chronic illnesses and increase family satisfaction. This study aimed to investigate nurses' perceptions and practices of FCC for children with chronic illnesses, and how nursing characteristics influence this relationship.
Method: This multicenter cross-sectional study involved a convenience sample of 405 nurses, each with at least six months of experience caring for chronically ill children, infants, and toddlers in Saudi Arabia.

Background: Due to sexual dimorphism in growth of penaeid shrimp, all-female cultivation is desirable for the aquaculture industry. 17β-estradiol (E2) has the potential to induce the male-to-female sex reversal of decapod species. However, the mechanisms behind it remain poorly understood.

Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) is a multimodal approach to improve surgical outcome and has been implemented in many fields of surgery in an international scale. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) society recommendations in liver surgery and the impact on general and surgery-related complications. 1049 patients who underwent liver surgery from July 2018 to October 2023 were included.

The heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) family of molecular chaperones mediates the folding and activation of ~ 400 client proteins, many of which contribute to oncogenesis. As a result, Hsp90 pan-inhibitors, which inhibit all four Hsp90 isoforms, have been investigated in the clinic for the treatment of cancer. Unfortunately, detrimental side effects were observed and hindered the clinical development of pan-Hsp90 inhibitors.

Individuals living with Tourette syndrome (TS) may benefit from cognitive assessment, as it may elucidate specific difficulties for which someone could receive accommodation and highlight relative strengths to build upon. Eventually, cognitive assessment could help predicting symptom trajectory or treatment outcome. However, the literature on cognition in TS is often equivocal, which may be at least partly attributed to small samples, inconsistent consideration of co-occurring conditions, psychotropic medication, and developmental influence.
