Aim: To study the preparation of bovine serum albumin nanoparticles surface-modified with glycyrrhizin(BSA-NP-GL) targeting to hepatocytes.

Methods: The bovine serum albumin nanoparticles (BSA-NP) were prepared by desolvation process. Glycyrrhizin (GL) was oxidized by sodium periodate to be conjugated to surface reactive amino groups (SRAG) of the BSA-NP. The SRAG were quantified by spectrophotometric method using 2, 4, 6-trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid(TNBS). Glycyrrhetinic acid(GA) hydrolyzed from GL, which was on the surface of BSA-NP-GL was assayed by HPLC after isolation by sephadex G-50. Both methods were used to verify the conjugation achieved. HPLC was used to determine surface density of GL on BSA-NP-GL.

Results: The amount of SRAG of the BSA-NP-GL decreased by 19.6% compared with normal BSA-NP. The amount of GL molecule was 9.2% of the total determined SRAG of BSA-NP. The mean diameter of the BSA-NP-GL was 73 nm with round shape. The stability of BSA-NP-GL was constant when it was stored at 25 degrees C and 37 degrees C during 10 days.

Conclusion: BSA-NP-GL was successfully prepared, which is considered to establish an experimental foundation for further research on its ability for targeting to hepatocytes.

An RCA product is a promising scaffold for the construction of DNA nanostructures, but so far, there is no RCA scaffold-based dynamic reconfigurable nanorobot for biological applications. In this contribution, we develop an intracellular stimuli-responsive reconfigurable coiled DNA nanosnake (N-Snake) by using incomplete aptamer-functionalized (A) DNA tetrahedrons (T) to fold a long tandemly repetitive DNA strand synthesized by rolling circle amplification reaction (R) with the help of palindromic fragment (P). A DNA-assembled product, ARTP, including spiked aptamers, can retain the structural integrity even if exposed to fetal bovine serum (FBS) for 24 h and displays substantially enhanced target molecule-dependent cellular internalization efficiency.

In this study, we present a protecting group photocleavage method to investigate both covalent and noncovalent interactions between a squaraine dye (PSq) and Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA). This approach allows for the photoinduced activation and deactivation of PSq fluorescence, providing valuable insights into the dual-mode interaction of the dye with the protein.

The role of RGPR-p117, a transcription factor, which binds to the TTGGC motif in the promoter region of the regucalcin gene, in cell regulation remains to be investigated. This study elucidated whether RGPR-p117 regulates the activity of triple-negative human breast cancer MDA-MB-231 cells in vitro. The wild-type and RGPR-p117-overexpressing cancer cells were cultured in DMEM supplemented with fetal bovine serum.

Bovine serum albumin-capped gold nanoclusters (AuNC@BSA) are ionic, ultra-small, and eco-friendly nanomaterials that exhibit red fluorescence emission. Upon modification, these nanomaterials can serve as imaging probes with multimodal functionality. Owing to their nanoscale properties, AuNC@BSA-based nanomaterials can be readily endocytosed by cells for imaging.
