Published: December 2003

Objective: To study the efficacy and side effects of methotrexate with different protocols in the treatment of ectopic pregnancy (EP).

Methods: Total of 648 patients who had EP and were treated only with MTX were analysed. Patients were divided into six groups according to protocol: Group 1, 100 mg intravenously (IV); Group 2, 100 mg, IV, followed by citrovorum factor; Group 3, 20 mg, IV every day for five days; Group 4, 20 mg intramusculary (IM) every day for five days; Group 5, 75 mg, IV; Group 6, 75 mg, IM.

Results: The rates of repeated MTX injection in group 1 - 6 because of inadequate decrease of hCG were 23.3%, 25.0%, 21.4%, 20.6%, 24.4% and 22.4% respectively. Success rates were 87.4%, 85.4%, 90.5%, 92.6%, 86.3% and 91.4% respectively. Rates of liver dysfunction were 10.3%, 8.3%, 64.3%, 69.1%, 8.7% and 31.0%.

Conclusion: Single-dose of 75 mg MTX IV injection may be the best regimen in the treatment of EP because of the same efficacy but the least side effects.

Background: Pulmonary hypertension (pHTN) has been associated with increased morbidity and mortality after mitral Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair (TEER), but the association remains uncertain. This study aims to evaluate the impact of pHTN on cardiovascular outcomes following TEER.

Methods: We searched PubMed, Scopus, and Medline to identify studies reporting outcomes after TEER in individuals with pHTN.

Peking University People's Hospital, Peking University Institute of Hematology, National Clinical Research Center for Hematologic Disease, Beijing Key Laboratory of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation, Beijing 100044, China.

This study aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics of oral mucositis (OM) in patients with hematological diseases who received secondary allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) . This study retrospectively analyzed data on 58 patients with hematological diseases who underwent secondary allo-HSCT at the Peking University People's Hospital from January 2018 to December 2023. The control group included 116 randomized patients after primary allo-HSCT during this period (1:2 ratio) with matched gender, age, and diagnosis.

Spinal cord injuries (SCIs) can lead to severe neuropathic pain and increased risk of myocardial infarction and heart failure; therefore, the use of analgesics against SCI-induced pain should be minimized because of their adverse effects on the cardiovascular system. Ivabradine, a blocker of hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated cation (HCN) channels, is used as a bradycardic agent, but recent studies focused on it as an analgesic agent for peripheral neuropathic pain. However, the analgesic effects of ivabradine on central neuropathic pain, such as SCI-induced pain, have not been examined.
