Objective: Many surgical techniques have been described in the literature and their recurrence rates have been compared. Few studies have compared the results of the most popular techniques such as excision and marsupialization in pediatric population.

Methods: Sixteen children were operated for ranula. Total excision with sublingual gland was performed on 10 patients while marsupialization was performed on 6 patients. These patients were followed up at least 3 years. Their charts were investigated retrospectively.

Results: The age range was between 17 days and 16 years old. The mean age was 9 years. There were 12 females and 4 males. One patient (6.25%) had recurrence after excision and marsupialization was performed on this patient. The recurrence rates for marsupialization and excision were 0 and 10%, respectively. Ranulas were ruptured during surgery in 11 cases (68.75%) while a defect on the floor of the mouth had occurred in 1 patient. Only one of the cases among ruptured cases (9%) had reoccurred. The most common complication was rupture of the ranula in 11 patients (68.75%) followed by a defect on the floor of the mouth in one case.

Conclusion: Rupture of the cyst during surgery does not increase the risk of recurrence. Besides marsupialization or excision do not make any difference in terms of success of surgery.

Background: Traumatic anterior shoulder dislocation is the most common type of joint dislocation, with an incidence of 11 to 29 per 100 000 persons per year. Controversy still surrounds the recommendations for treatment and the available procedures for surgical stabilization.

Methods: This review is based on pertinent publications (2014-2024) that were retrieved by a selective search in the PubMed and Google Scholar databases.

Objective: To compare the clinical outcomes between radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and microwave ablation (MWA) for the treatment of T1N0M0 papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) in a large cohort.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective study included 1111 patients with solitary T1N0M0 PTC treated with RFA (n = 894) or MWA (n = 215) by experienced physicians. A propensity score matching was used to compare disease progression, including lymph node metastases (LNM), recurrent tumors and persistent tumors, recurrence-free survival (RFS), volume reduction ratio (VRR), and complications between the RFA and MWA groups.

Introduction: To compare the effectiveness and safety of Manchester procedure versus vaginal hysterectomy in the treatment of mid-compartment prolapse in women.

Material And Methods: We searched PubMed, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and the Cochrane Library for randomized controlled trials (RCTs), prospective, or retrospective studies comparing the Manchester procedure and vaginal hysterectomy up to July 2024. Primary outcomes included anatomical recurrence, subjective recurrence, overall complication rate, and reoperation.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) infections rank as the most prevalent sexually transmitted infections globally. The Brazilian Ministry of Health recommends the topical use of 70%-90% trichloroacetic acid (TAA) for treating condyloma acuminata, yet this method suffers from a high recurrence rate of 36% and requires roughly six applications. Topical photodynamic therapy (PDT) has shown effectiveness in targeting subclinical lesions, but it also necessitates multiple sessions for complete lesion clearance.

Objectives: To evaluate the role of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in the final treatment plan and its impact on survival in bladder cancer patients who were diagnosed with variant histology in the radical cystectomy specimen and whose diagnostic accuracy was achieved with the previous transurethral resection of the bladder specimen.

Methods: In this retrospective multicenter study, data from 221 patients across 9 centers were analyzed between January 2012 and January 2022. The primary endpoint was overall, cancer-specific, recurrence-free, and metastasis-free survival rates among patients with and without neoadjuvant chemotherapy, and the secondary endpoint was to identify independent predictors of survival.
