The Jones matrix calculus is applied to an electro-optic crystal with uniaxial symmetry when the light beam is incident nearly normally on the crystal face. The approach allows one to treat refracted waves and rays that diverge in the crystal and are modulated by an external low-frequency field. The effect of partial interference of overlapping refracted beams is allowed for and calculated for the case of uniform intensity of the beam over its cross section. The method is employed to analyze optical systems containing an imprecisely cut and aligned electro-optic crystal plate.

This work studies the generation of the orbital angular momentum (OAM) beam in the double quantum dot-metal nanoparticle (DQD-MNP) system under the application of the OAM beam. First, an analytical model is derived to attain the relations of probe and generated fields as a distance function in the DQD-MNP system under OAM applied field and spontaneously generated coherence (SGC) components. The calculation here is of material property; it differs from others by calculating energy states of the DQDs and the computation of the transition momenta between quantum dot (QD)-QD and QD-wetting layer (WL) transitions.

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (Head: Prof. Dr. Dr. Bernd Lethaus), University Hospital Tübingen, Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen, Osianderstr. 2-8, D-72076, Tübingen, Germany.

Objectives: The aim of the present study was to compare the accuracy of fully guided implant insertion in vitro achieved by two fabrication methods in a cohort of undergraduates. We hypothesized that both methods achieve a comparable accuracy.

Methods: Surface scans and cone beam computed tomography images of 48 mandibular models were matched.

Rigid reinforced concrete (RC) frames are generally adopted as stiff elements to make the building structures resistant to seismic forces. However, a method has yet to be fully sought to provide earthquake resistance through optimizing beam and column performance in a rigid frame. Due to its high corrosion resistance, the integration of CFRP offers an opportunity to reduce frequent repairs and increase durability.

In this paper, we demonstrate a blazed phase grating to achieve tunable beam steering and propose a novel algorithm to reduce the stripe noise in wrapped phase. To control the diffraction angle to steer light to the desired direction, an electrically tunable transmission-type beam deflector based on liquid crystals is introduced, and electric fields are applied to the patterned indium tin oxide electrodes to change its phase retardation. Two different 2π phase-wrapping methods are applied to obtain various diffraction angles within the minimum cell-gap, and the method of equal interval of phase achieves a worthwhile diffraction efficiency compared to the methods based on equal interval of diffraction angle.

The complex cross-sectional shape of oversized beam blanks and the size effect of ultra-large-section beam blanks create severe issues related to the surface and internal quality of the castings. To ensure quality and control in the production of ultra-large-section beam blanks, a numerical and physical model of molten steel flow in the three-port submerged entrance nozzle (SEN) mould, with section dimensions of 1300 × 510 × 140 mm, was established. This model was created using numerical simulations and NSGA-II genetic algorithm optimisation, and the impact of the casting speed and SEN immersion depth on the mould's flow behaviour was investigated.
