Addition of phosphorus as a novel way to improve the performance of bio-ceramic filter for biological pretreatment of source water was conducted. More bacteria grown in raw water and the BDOC of raw water increased when 50 micrograms/L PO4(3-)-P (NaH2PO4) was added alone were clear evidence of phosphorus limitation on bacterial growth. It shown that about 4.7%, 3.6% and 5.7% more of COD(Mn), UV254 and TOC from the raw water investigated in the experiment on the average was removed respectively when 25 micrograms/L PO4(3-)-P (H3PO4) was added to the influent of bioceramic filter. The role of phosphorus in raw water and drinking water should be paid more attention.

Monitoring of genotoxic chemicals released into the water cycle or formed through transformation processes is critical to prevent harm to human health. The development of the high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC)-umu bioassay combines sample separation and detection of genotoxic substances in the low ng/L concentration range. In this study, raw, process, and drinking water samples from 11 different waterworks in Germany were analyzed using the HPTLC-umu.

It is imperative to investigate more cost-effective, long-lasting, efficient, and reliable non-noble metal electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in hydrogen production via water splitting. Metal-organic complexes have been extensively researched and utilized for this purpose, yet their transformation in this process remains intriguing and underexplored. To enable a comprehensive comparison, we synthesized three types of metal-organic complexes with varying morphologies using the same raw material.

A new type of filler was added to epoxy resin to prepare a composite coating with excellent corrosion and weathering resistance. The simple synthesis process and nonpolluting raw materials of this filler contribute to the development of green chemistry. Specifically, lignin was encapsulated in mesoporous silica, the synergistic effect between the two resulted in the formation of lignin/mesoporous silica composite particles (MSN-L) with excellent ultraviolet (UV) resistance.

Municipal solid waste incineration fly ash (MSWIFA) is considered a hazardous solid waste, traditionally disposed by solidified landfill methods. However, solidified landfills present challenges with leaching heavy metals, polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs). To address this issue, this study examined two pretreatment methods for MSWIFA: sintering at 850℃ for 30 min and washing with three water baths (20 min each) at a 3:1 liquid-solid ratio.

The search for neuroprotective compounds in lavender is driven by its traditional use for brain health, with antioxidant activity serving as a key mechanism in reducing oxidative stress and supporting cognitive function. Lavender's potential to protect neurons is based on its calming, anti-stress properties, which increase the brain's resistance to neurodegeneration. Although lavender is not a traditional medicinal plant in Ukraine, it is increasingly recognised for its medicinal properties and is widely cultivated in the country.
