Based both on actual differences in the hair and skin and on cultural desire, people of color do have special considerations for cosmetic products. As the experts in hair and skin, it is incumbent on dermatologists to understand the needs of a diverse patient base, to be knowledgeable about the products that patients need and desire, and to be aware of possible adverse effects related to product use or misuse. Further research is needed both to continue to understand the needs of the hair and skin of people of color and to understand the effects of products on ethnic hair and skin.

Skin, as the body's largest organ, acts as the primary defense mechanism against infection and injury. The maintenance of skin health heavily relies on the regulation of epidermal stem cells, crucial for ensuring epidermal homeostasis, hair regeneration, and the repair of epidermal injuries. Recent studies have placed a growing emphasis on G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) in the context of understanding epidermal stem cells, uncovering its significant role in determining their fate.

Background: Exosomes are a nanoscale extracellular vesicles derived from different cell types that have been investigated for various clinical applications, including functioning as biomarkers and use as direct therapeutics. Given the role of exosomes in multiple pathophysiologic pathways and potential practical applications, they have garnered significant interest in the scientific community but much is still unknown about their development and use.
Aims: This literature review covers the background, mechanisms of action, use as biomarkers, methods of application, and direct therapeutic applications of exosomes.

Understanding vibrissal transduction has advanced by serial sectioning and identified afferent recordings, but afferent mapping onto the complex, encapsulated follicle remains unclear. Here, we reveal male rat C2 vibrissa follicle innervation through synchrotron X-ray phase contrast tomograms. Morphological analysis identified 5% superficial, ~32 % unmyelinated and 63% myelinated deep vibrissal nerve axons.

Background: Scalp seborrheic dermatitis (SD) is a chronic, recurrent inflammatory skin condition associated with scalp sebum secretion and dysbiosis.
Aims: The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a topical salicylic acid/piroctone olamine/zinc salt of L-pyrrolidone carboxylate (Zinc PCA) scalp pre-application gel in combination with a salicylic acid/piroctone olamine/antimicrobial peptide cleansing lotion for the treatment of moderate to severe scalp SD.
Patients/methods: In this prospective cohort study, 20 patients with moderate to severe scalp SD were treated with a combination of the scalp pre-application gel and cleansing lotion for 4 weeks (one tube of the pre-application gel per week and the cleansing lotion used every 1-3 days depending on the frequency of hair washing).
