Application of artificial intelligence to ultrasound imaging for benign gynecological disorders: systematic review.

Ultrasound Obstet Gynecol

January 2025

Dipartimento Scienze della Salute della Donna, del Bambino e di Sanità Pubblica, Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli, IRCCS, Rome, Italy.

Objective: Although artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly being applied to ultrasound imaging in gynecology, efforts to synthesize the available evidence have been inadequate. The aim of this systematic review was to summarize and evaluate the literature on the role of AI applied to ultrasound imaging in benign gynecological disorders.

Methods: Web of Science, PubMed and Scopus databases were searched from inception until August 2024.

Minimally invasive biomarkers for triaging lung nodules-challenges and future perspectives.

Cancer Metastasis Rev

January 2025

Saliva and Liquid Biopsy Translational Laboratory, Institute for Biomedicine and Glycomics (IBG), Griffith University, Brisbane, 4111, Australia.

CT chest scans are commonly performed worldwide, either in routine clinical practice for a wide range of indications or as part of lung cancer screening programs. Many of these scans detect lung nodules, which are small, rounded opacities measuring 8-30 mm. While the concern about nodules is that they may represent early lung cancer, in screening programs, only 1% of such nodules turn out to be cancer.

Developmental functional brain network abnormalities in autism spectrum disorder comorbid with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Eur J Pediatr

January 2025

Department of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Children's Medical Center, The First Hospital of Jilin University, Jilin University, Changchun, China.

Unlabelled: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) often co-occur. Developmental stages significantly influence the variations in brain alterations. However, whether ASD comorbid with ADHD (ASD + ADHD) represents a unique neural characteristic from ASD without comorbid ADHD (ASD-alone), or instead manifests a shared neural correlate associated with ASD across diverse age cohorts remain unclear.

Objective: This study aimed to apply the DeepLabv3 + model and compare it with the U-Net model in terms of detecting and segmenting apical lesions on panoramic radiography.

Methods: 260 panoramic images that contain apical lesions in different regions were collected and randomly divided into training and test datasets. All images were manually annotated for apical lesions using Computer Vision Annotation Tool software by two independent dental radiologists and a master reviewer.

Purpose: Imaging biomarkers bear great promise for improving the diagnosis and prognosis of cognitive impairment in Parkinson's disease (PD). We compared the ability of three commonly used neuroimaging modalities to detect cortical changes in PD patients with mild cognitive impairment (PD-MCI) and dementia (PDD).

Methods: 53 cognitively normal PD patients (PD-CN), 32 PD-MCI, and 35 PDD underwent concurrent structural MRI (sMRI), diffusion-weighted MRI (dMRI), and [F]FDG PET.
