Different types of Toxoplasma gondii vaccines were evaluated using parasitological and histopathological means to induce immunity in Swiss pregnant mice and their pups against the challenge with virulent RH strain. Immunization was performed before mating by using live cyst vaccines (LCV), LCV-IL-2 combination, irradiated cyst vaccine (ICV) and ICV-IL-2 combination. It was demonstrated that pre-immunization with the current vaccines offered significant protection of both dams and pups. The highest level of protection was noticed in mice which received LCV-IL-2, followed by ICV-IL-2, then LCV and the least protection was elicited in dams immunized with ICV alone. The results threw light on the possibility of applying such vaccines not only in mice but also in other mammalian hosts including human.

We present the case of a 31-year-old female with Fontan circulation who developed signs of protein-losing enteropathy 10 days after second COVID-19 vaccination. After standard investigations for identification of potential triggers for protein-losing enteropathy, we concluded that coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) booster vaccination could have been the most probable underlying trigger. Prompt investigation of new symptoms post-vaccination in high-risk patients is necessary.

Immunization rates of maternal influenza vaccination during pregnancy remain suboptimal, with concerns about potential harm to the mothers and their offspring. We conducted a population-based cohort study, using mother-child linked database in Korea: (a) maternal cohort between December 2019, and March 2022; (b) neonatal cohort between September 2020, and June 2021. Exposure was defined as influenza vaccination during pregnancy.

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is widespread and mostly causes asymptomatic infections in immunocompetent hosts, but it may lead to severe and life-threatening diseases in immunocompromised individuals, such as transplant patients and congenitally infected children, representing a significant public health concern. Although there are no licensed CMV vaccines, the development of a CMV vaccine is considered a high priority due to its potential to reduce the burden associated with CMV-related complications, and several approaches are under investigation. The objective of this systematic review was to synthesize the evidence on various CMV vaccines currently under clinical development.
