The simultaneous determination of fluorine resulting from inorganic fluoride as well as fluorine-containing solvents adsorbed to drugs was achieved in the 0.1-30 ppm range by a combination of decomposition with magnesium oxide at 800 degrees C and steam distillation of the resulting fluoride followed by photometric measurement of the aminomethylalizarindiacetic acid-cerium(III) complex at 620 nm. The inevitable loss of fluoride occurring during the decomposition and distillation processes was corrected using factors derived from authorized calibrations. The method was validated using glucose contaminated with dexamethasone which contains 4.84% fluorine per molecule.

: Although breast surgery has undergone a drastic de-escalation in recent decades, axillary dissection is still indicated in some selected cases. Unfortunately, in 3-85% of cases, complications such as seroma formation occur, highlighting the need for more accurate hemostasis systems. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of absorbable polysaccharide hemostatic such as Haemocer in preventing postoperative seroma.

Surfactant-free W/O high internal phase emulsions co-stabilized by beeswax and phytosterol crystal scaffold: A promising fat mimetic with enhanced mechanical and mouthfeel properties.

Food Res Int

School of Food Science and Engineering, Guangdong Province Key Laboratory for Green Processing of Natural Products and Product Safety, South China University of Technology, Guangzhou 510640, China; School of Chemical Engineering and Energy Technology, Dongguan University of Technology, College Road 1, Dongguan 523808, China.

Water-in-oil high internal phase emulsions (W/O-HIPEs) typically rely on large amounts of surfactants to disperse water droplets and usually use crystalline saturated triacylglycerides (TAGs) to enhance processing properties. However, these practices conflict with consumer demands for 'natural' ingredients. This study seeks to develop novel crystal fractions similar to saturated TAGs for the preparation of W/O-HIPEs as low-calorie fat mimetics, focusing on their mechanical and mouthfeel properties, which have received little attention thus far.

Electronic address:

The colorimetric sensor for volatile amines (VA) detection can realize non-destructive monitoring of shrimp quality. However, its sensing performance still needs to be improved. In this study, we proposed an aerogel-type colorimetric sensor to improve VA sensing performance and realize early detection of shrimp spoilage.

DongTing Laboratory, Hunan Agricultural Product Processing Institute, Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Hunan Provincial Key Laboratory for Fruits and Vegetables Storage Processing and Quality Safety, Changsha 410125, China. Electronic address:

The carboxymethyl curdlan-quercetin conjugate (CMCD-QUE) was synthesized to stabilize curcumin (CUR) -loaded Pickering emulsions. The physicochemical properties, antioxidant activity, and prebiotic activity of CMCD-QUE were investigated. The effects of different concentrations of CMCD-QUE on CUR-loaded emulsions were also explored.

Glutaric anhydride esterification promotes wheat starch/glutein composite gel interaction: Formation, characterization, and oleogel applications.

Food Res Int

February 2025

Engineering Research Center of Grain and Oil Functionalized Processing in Universities of Shaanxi Province, College of Food Science and Engineering, Northwest A&F University, 22 Xinong Road, Yangling 712100, Shaanxi, PR China. Electronic address:

This study constructed a composite system with different ratios (100:0, 95:5, 90:10, and 80:20) of glutein compounded with various esterified starch (3 % and 6 %). The results demonstrated that the esterification process enhanced the viscosity of the starch gel system. Furthermore, the optimal esterification level (3 %) facilitated the formation of a dense composite gel network, as observed through microstructure observation.
