The initiation of adaptive immune responses requires the direct interaction of dendritic cells (DCs) with naive T lymphocytes. It is well established that the maturation state of DCs has a critical impact on the outcome of the response. We show here that mature DCs form stable conjugates with naive T cells and induce the formation of organized immune synapses. Immature DCs, in contrast, form few stable conjugates with no organized immune synapses. A dynamic analysis revealed that mature DCs can form long-lasting interactions with naive T cells, even in the absence of Ag. Immature DCs, in contrast, established only short intermittent contacts, suggesting that the premature termination of the interaction prevents the formation of organized immune synapses and full T cell activation.

is a fungal pathogen that can cause lethal disease in immunocompromised patients. Immunocompetent host immune responses, such as formation of pulmonary granulomas, control the infection and prevent disseminated disease. Little is known about the immunological conditions establishing the latent infection granuloma in the lungs.

Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) is a condition that causes an individual's immune system to destroy its own red blood cells. Immune cells are activated against the red blood cell antigens to induce hemolysis. Patients typically present with symptomatic anemia when the extent of hemolysis overcomes the bone marrow's ability to compensate.

The prevalence and evolution of respiratory pathogens are changing, and issues related to drug-resistance are becoming increasingly prominent in the post-COVID era. The urgency of controlling respiratory pathogens has intensified. This issue organizes expert discussions to address the resurgence of various respiratory pathogens, summarizing current status of pathogen surveillance, drug-resistance research and vaccine development, while suggesting countermeasures.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors in treating small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) and determine the role of PD-1 monoclonal antibodies in improving patient outcomes.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on 37 SCLC patients who received PD-1 or PD-L1 inhibitors along with chemotherapy at the First Hospital of Lanzhou University between June 2018 and June 2023. Treatment effectiveness was measured by overall response rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR), overall survival (OS), and progression-free survival (PFS), utilizing chi-square and T-tests, along with Kaplan-Meier and log-rank analyses.

Objective: Dose-response analysis of the effect of each additional contact where family planning (FP) was discussed during antenatal, delivery, postnatal or immunisation visits on the uptake of postpartum family planning (PPFP) within 12 months.
Design: A cohort where pregnant women were enrolled and reinterviewed approximately 12 months postpartum. Life table analyses examined differentials in probabilities of adopting contraception over 12 months postpartum by level of exposure to FP counselling.
