Objective: To describe the cases of 2 fetuses with aneurysms of the vein of Galen diagnosed prenatally.

Methods: The techniques used were conventional sonography, three-dimensional sonography, and ultrafast magnetic resonance imaging. On the basis of these imaging modalities, prognostic factors, such as drainage and secondary damage, were assessed.

Results: The first fetus had good prognostic indices, and embolization after birth was successful. According to the prognostic factors, a poor neonatal outcome was predicted for the second fetus. The neonate died soon after birth.

Conclusions: Conventional sonography, color Doppler imaging, and magnetic resonance imaging appeared to be useful diagnostic tools. The prognostic factors can be useful in counseling patients and providing the best possible care after birth.

: The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between conventional and novel Doppler parameters, including cerebroplacental ratio (CPR), cerebral-placental-uterine ratio (CPUR), umbilical-to-cerebral ratio (UCR), and amniotic-to-umbilical-cerebral ratio (AUCR), with the diagnosis of preeclampsia (PE) and adverse neonatal outcomes in PE cases. : This prospective case-control study was conducted at the Ankara Etlik City Hospital Perinatology Clinic between November 2023 and May 2024. The study population was divided into two groups: Group 1, consisting of 74 patients diagnosed with preeclampsia, and Group 2, consisting of 80 healthy control patients.

The anatomy of the sciatic nerve allows it to be blocked at different levels using various anesthetic approaches. However, for several reasons, performing these approaches may be challenging or disadvantageous in specific categories of patients, particularly in obese patients. The objective of this brief technical report is to describe a new technical approach to sciatic nerve block, designed to simplify the procedure for certain categories of patients and less experienced practitioners.

Improved diagnosis of small cervical lymph node metastasis using postvascular phase perfluorobutane CEUS in cancer patients.

BMC Cancer

January 2025

Department of Ultrasonography, Clinical Oncology School of Fujian Medical University, Fujian Cancer Hospital, Fuzhou, 350014, China.

Background: Accurate identification of small metastatic lymph nodes (LNs) remains a significant challenge with conventional ultrasound (US) due to its limitations in sensitivity for smaller LNs. The use of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), especially with perfluorobutane in the postvascular phase of CEUS, may improve the diagnosis of metastatic LNs in cancer patients. We sought to investigate the diagnostic accuracy of the postvascular phase of CEUS with perfluorobutane in identifying suspected small cervical LNs in cancer patients.

Introduction: The technical development of ultrasound devices based on silicon chips has revolutionized ultrasound examinations, leading to the implementation of these portable handheld devices (PUD) in different medical fields. However, training on these devices is necessary to assure appropriate use and ensure valid results. While training programs for the use of conventional standard ultrasound devices (SUD) have been described, no training program for these handheld devices has been developed thus far.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) combined with three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound for the preoperative prediction of nonperfused volume ratio (NPVR) in uterine fibroids after high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) ablation.

Materials And Methods: In total, 178 patients who had undergone HIFU ablation therapy for uterine fibroids between July 2021 and August 2023 were enrolled. Baseline clinical, MRI, and 3D ultrasound parameters collected before and after HIFU ablation were analyzed.
