Unlabelled: During the coronavirus disease 2019 epidemic, excessive chlorine disinfectants have been used to block the spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus 2, resulting in large amounts of residual disinfectants entering wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) through sewage systems. So far, no relevant research has been conducted on the impact of chlorine disinfectants on microfauna, an important microbial component in activated sludge treatment systems. This study comprehensively investigated the changes in microfauna habitat, community structure, and colonization mode under the chlorine stress by combining the full-scale WWTP survey and laboratory-scale sequencing batch reactor experiments.

It is a great challenge to depict the evolution process of soil-nanomaterials micro-interfaces during soil remediation. A novel biochar loaded nano zero-valent iron (BC-nZVI) reactor with low density, high reactivity and suitable magnetism was prepared using the method we established. Fe nanoparticles (NPs) with the size <10 nm uniformly embedded in a layer of porous carbon networks, which attached firmly in the pores and outer surface of biochars.

Recently, the focus in chromatography model development has expanded to include the modeling of extra column volume (ECV), particularly in small- and lab-scale systems where ECV can constitute a significant portion of the total volume. Typically, ECV is modeled with 1D approaches, for example with combinations of dispersed plug flow reactors (DPFRs) and continuously stirred tank reactors (CSTRs). However, radial inhomogeneities in the ECV concentration profile necessitate higher-dimensional models for more accurate predictions.
